POSITION TITLE: Sales Engineer (Genomics)

LOCATION: UK (Remote)

Who We Are:

TriNetX connects healthcare organizations and researchers across the globe so they can see what’s happening in real patient populations—not guesses, not simulations.

Our aim is simple and ambitious: Provide a clear path to trustworthy answers, whether your goal is to create promising new therapies, publish groundbreaking research, or improve health outcomes.

We keep identifiable data where it belongs—inside more than 11,000+ clinical sites across 20+ countries—preserving security, provenance, and granularity. Our trusted partnerships with providers ensure high-fidelity data, and a properly governed linkage back to individual patients.

At TriNetX, we enable life sciences, healthcare, and academic institutions to strengthen human health—with data you can trace, evidence you can defend, and answers you can trust.

Who We Are Looking For:

the most important scientific voice in the room with prospects. You will own the technical evaluation phase of every strategic deal: from discovery and demo through proof-of-concept, RFP response, and close. You will translate complex genomics workflows into compelling platform demonstrations, and translate customer pain into product requirements that feed directly into our roadmap.

What You Will Be Doing:

Customer Engagement & Technical Discovery

  • Lead structured technical discovery sessions with bioinformaticians, genomics scientists, clinical data teams, and IT/infrastructure stakeholders at target accounts.
  • Uncover current-state pain: pipeline bottlenecks, data storage costs, scalability limits, reproducibility challenges, and compliance requirements (GxP, HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Map customer workflows — WGS, WES, RNA-seq, single-cell, long-read, clinical variant interpretation — to platform capabilities, identifying gaps and escalating to Product where relevant.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships across technical and scientific buyer personas that extend beyond the sales cycle.

Demonstrations & Proof of Concept

  • Deliver tailored, workflow-specific platform demonstrations — not slide decks — that speak directly to the scientific context and technical environment of each prospect.
  • Design and execute proof-of-concept (PoC) evaluations: scope the experiment, define success criteria collaboratively with the customer, own the technical execution, and present results to the buying committee.
  • Build custom demo environments using real or synthetic genomics datasets that resonate with specific customer use cases (oncology, rare disease, population genomics, pharmacogenomics, clinical reporting).
  • Manage PoC timelines rigorously — typically 4–8 weeks — and drive to a clear technical win or structured no-go decision.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

RFPs, Security Reviews & Technical Due Diligence

  • Own the technical response to RFIs, RFPs, and security questionnaires for enterprise and government accounts, collaborating with Security, Legal, and Engineering as needed.
  • Address data sovereignty, cloud architecture (AWS/GCP/Azure), pipeline portability (Nextflow, Snakemake, WDL/Cromwell), FAIR data principles, and audit trail requirements.
  • Present to CTO, CISO, and Head of Bioinformatics-level stakeholders; translate platform architecture into appropriate levels of technical depth for each audience.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the primary feedback conduit between the field and Product, translating customer technical requirements into structured feature requests with business context and prioritisation rationale.
  • Partner with Customer Success to support technical handoffs post-close, ensuring that what was scoped during the sales cycle matches the onboarding plan.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on technical content: white papers, solution briefs, conference demos, and webinar presentations.
  • Mentor junior presales and sales engineers; contribute to and maintain a shared library of demo assets, PoC playbooks, and objection-handling guides.

Thought Leadership & Field Intelligence

  • Represent the company at industry conferences (ASHG, AGBT, ISMB, Bio-IT World) and scientific symposia as a technical expert and platform evangelist.
  • Track competitive landscape across bioinformatics platforms, cloud-native genomics tools, and adjacent clinical informatics vendors; maintain competitive battlecards.
  • Contribute to technical blog posts, case studies, and documentation that demonstrate scientific depth and drive inbound interest from the genomics community.

What You Bring to TriNetX:

  • BSc minimum in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative life-science discipline. MSc or PhD strongly preferred
  • 5+ years in a technical presales, solutions engineering, field application scientist, or senior bioinformatics consultant role — ideally within a life sciences software, cloud genomics, or NGS tools company.
  • Hands-on experience with NGS data analysis: variant calling (GATK/DeepVariant), RNA-seq (STAR/HISAT2/DESeq2/edgeR), somatic mutation analysis, structural variant detection, or single-cell pipelines (Seurat/Scanpy/Cell Ranger).
  • Practical familiarity with workflow managers — Nextflow, Snakemake, or WDL/Cromwell — and comfort discussing pipeline portability, reproducibility, and container strategies (Docker/Singularity).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; able to command a room of PhDs, navigate a CTO conversation, and write a clear, concise technical proposal — all in the same week.
  • Comfortable operating within a structured B2B enterprise sales process (MEDDIC / MEDDPICC or equivalent); able to qualify opportunities, manage stakeholder maps, and drive evaluations to close.

Preferred

  • Experience in clinical genomics environments (hospital NHS/academic medical centre, diagnostic laboratory, biopharma translational research) — understanding of GxP, CAP/CLIA, or CE-IVD compliance contexts.
  • Familiarity with tertiary analysis tools: clinical variant interpretation platforms (e.g. Fabric, Emedgene, Franklin), oncology genomics reporting, or pharmacogenomics pipelines.
  • Experience with multi-omics integration — transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, or metabolomics — in a research or commercial setting.
  • Exposure to federated data architectures, data mesh concepts, or secure research environments (Trusted Research Environments, Five Safes framework).
  • Prior involvement in commercial negotiations, procurement processes, or enterprise contract structures at life science institutions.
  • Track record of contributing to open-source bioinformatics tools, scientific publications, or conference presentations.
