Atlas NextWave is delighted to be supporting a leading engineering and industrial solutions provider in the search for an experienced Sales Engineer to join their Aberdeen-based team.


Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded technical professional who is passionate about building customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities and delivering tailored solutions across industrial and offshore sectors.


The Opportunity

As a Sales Engineer, you will combine technical expertise with commercial acumen to support customers with the selection and application of specialist products and solutions. You'll play a key role in developing new business, managing customer relationships and driving revenue growth within an established and respected organisation.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities within existing and emerging markets.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and key accounts.
  • Preparing quotations, proposals and technical documentation.
  • Providing technical guidance and product recommendations to customers.
  • Working closely with internal technical and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Monitoring market trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
  • Supporting business development activities, exhibitions and customer engagements.

What We're Looking For

The hiring team is particularly keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

Essential

  • ✅ Previous experience in a Sales Engineer, Technical Sales or similar customer-facing commercial role
  • ✅ Industry experience within wire rope, lifting equipment, rigging, slings or associated industrial products
  • ✅ Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for business growth
  • ✅ Experience selling technical products and engineering solutions
  • ✅ Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • ✅ Ability to understand technical specifications and translate them into customer-focused solutions
  • ✅ Self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently and achieve sales targets

Desirable

  • ➕ Experience supporting customers within offshore, marine, fishing, oil & gas, mining or industrial sectors
  • ➕ Knowledge of wire rope selection, applications and associated safety considerations
  • ➕ Experience using SAP and Microsoft Office applications
