Sales Engineer
Location: Peterborough
Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 5:00pm, Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
About The Role
Reporting to the Sales Office Manager, the Sales Engineer will provide technical & product support & training to the sales team and customers

We are seeking a Sales Engineer to join a successful engineering business, providing technical expertise and product support to both customers and internal teams. This is a varied role that combines engineering knowledge, customer interaction and commercial awareness.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring customer requirements are accurately interpreted, solutions are technically compliant, and proposals are delivered to the highest standard.
Important Requirement
To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar engineering discipline relevant to the industry and associated experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce technical specifications, drawings and calculations to support customer requirements.
- Ensure proposed solutions meet manufacturer guidelines and engineering standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the sales team and customers.
- Prepare and review technical content for quotations, tenders and proposals.
- Work closely with manufacturers, suppliers and external partners regarding product specifications and installation requirements.
- Identify suitable products and solutions based on customer needs.
- Manage all technical and specification-related aspects of customer projects and orders.
- Act as the technical link between commercial and operational departments.
- Research market trends, industry developments and competitor activity.
- Attend customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events.
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders.
- Deliver product and technical training to internal teams.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT systems.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Professional and customer-focused approach.
Desirable
- Experience within engineering, manufacturing, automotive, commercial vehicle, agricultural machinery, heavy equipment or a related technical sector.
- Previous experience in a Sales Engineer, Applications Engineer, Technical Support Engineer or similar role.
- Knowledge of high-value engineered products or capital equipment.
