Edwards Surfacing (KAE Ltd) · Great Horwood, Buckinghamshire · Full time, office based
£35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience, plus performance bonus
About us
Edwards Surfacing is a family-run tarmacadam, asphalt and civils contractor based at Great Horwood in Buckinghamshire. Founded by Ken Edwards MIAT, the company is run by the family, with his son Simon as Managing Director.
We work for private homeowners, commercial clients, local authorities and main contractors, on everything from residential driveways to large commercial and infrastructure schemes. That includes roads, car parks, driveways, footpaths, school playgrounds and industrial premises. We use good materials, modern plant and CSCS-carded operatives.
The role
This is a new role, created to take charge of our quotations and win more of the work we are asked to price. It is based in our office at Great Horwood.
Day to day you will:
- Manage the lead register and make sure every enquiry is picked up promptly
- Price straightforward jobs yourself from measurements, photographs and satellite imagery
- Turn the surveyors' site measurements into priced quotations, usually the same day
- Follow up open quotations and record the outcome, whether we win the job or not
- Work with our four surveyors, the office team and our suppliers to get the detail right
- Help us understand why we win and lose, so we can price better over time

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
