Specialist Flooring Contractor - Estimator

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator or trainee estimator to produce accurate cost estimates for bids and budgets across a wide range of specialist flooring and drainage related projects. The ideal candidate either has strong existing skills, or is willing to learn how to navigate construction industry contacts, tender invitations, bills of quantity, construction industry estimating software, and the ability to closely liaise with the sales team, project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial flooring projects.
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and scope of work to identify risks and omissions.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotation.
- Maintain cost databases, unit pricing, and historical bid files.
- Prepare bid proposals, scopes, and clarifications for submission.
- Collaborate with sales team and project management teams to value-engineer options and optimize budgets.
- Track bid deadlines and manage multiple estimating tasks simultaneously.
- Produce clear estimate summaries and presentations for leadership and clients.

Qualifications
- Some commercial construction experience an advantage.
- Knowledge of estimating software also an advantage.
- Understanding of construction means/methods, material costs, labour productivity, and subcontractor markets.
- Excellent attention to detail, maths skills, and written/verbal communication.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
