Who we are
Defy builds AI tooling for marketing agencies. Our platform, Defy Monitor, surfaces hyper-localised, high-converting narratives from competitor ads, creator content and organic posts - the kind of insight an agency would otherwise need three researchers and a fortnight to produce. It plugs into Claude and Manus via MCP, so it isn't a dashboard our clients look at once a month. It runs their daily work.
Agencies are the whole market. Independent and mid-tier creative, social and influencer shops, under pressure to produce more with smaller teams and thinner margins. We're early, we're growing, and the person who joins now helps write the playbook rather than inherit one.
The role
You'll carry a number and you'll carry the pitch. This is a full-cycle sales role in a small team: you find the agencies, you open the conversation, you demo the product, you help close it. There is no SDR handing you leads and no marketing engine filling your calendar. There is a founder with a network of 50+ agency leaders, a product people visibly react to in demos, and a great deal of room.
You will present constantly - on video calls, in agency boardrooms, on stands and stages at industry conferences. If standing in front of a room of agency founders and showing them something they haven't seen before sounds like the good part of the job rather than the frightening part, read on.
What you'll do
- Build and work a pipeline of agency prospects - research, outreach, qualification, follow-up
- Run discovery calls that get past "what does it do" to "what would this change about your week"
- Deliver live software demos of Defy Monitor, tailored to the agency in front of you
- Present to founders, new business directors and strategy leads - on screen and in the room
- Represent Defy at conferences and industry events across the UK, occasionally Europe
- Manage your pipeline honestly - accurate notes, clean forecasting, no happy ears
- Feed what you hear in the market back to the product team; it changes what we build
- Help build the playbook - the outreach that lands, the objection handling, the demo flow that works

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you'll bring
- One to two years selling SaaS or services B2B, with evidence you've carried and hit a number
- A real understanding of the agency world. How agencies pitch, how they bill, why utilisation matters, and why a creative director does not want another dashboard. You might have worked agency-side, sold into agencies, or spent enough time around them to speak the language credibly
- Comfort presenting. Not polish — comfort. You can hold a room and take the awkward question
- Curiosity about AI - enough to demo the product properly and explain what it does without hiding behind the word "AI"
- Self-management. You keep your own pipeline moving without being chased
- Willingness to travel for conferences and client meetings
Useful but not essential: agency-side experience, existing relationships in the UK agency scene, or a track record of building something where nothing existed before.
The package
- Base salary: £25-30,000 depending on experience
- Commission: uncapped, on every licence you close. Realistic year-one OTE of £50,000 – £60,000
- Location: hybrid — two days a week in the London office, the rest remote
- Travel: UK conferences and client meetings, with occasional European travel
- Reporting to: Ian Cassidy, CEO & Co-Founder
- Start date: as soon as we find the right person
Where this goes
We are a small team and we are growing. Whoever does this job well over twelve months is the obvious candidate to step up to Senior Sales Executive or Account Executive — owning larger agency accounts, and in time leading the junior sales resource we hire behind them. Equity is on the table for people who prove themselves.

How we work
We are remote-first with a London base, async by default, and allergic to meetings that could have been a message. Our tone is brave — we would rather be surprising than safe, and we expect the same from the people who represent us. Three values sit behind everything:
- Be helpful.
- Enjoy the journey.
- Defy expectations.
How to apply — read this part properly
Do not apply through the LinkedIn apply button. Applications submitted that way will not be read. The only route into this process is email, and that is deliberate.
- Email talktous@defygroup.ai Subject line: Sales Executive — [Your Name]
- Write us a short note — 300 words maximum — on this: "How agencies can benefit most from AI technology." Your own thinking, in your own words. There is no right answer. We want to see how you think and whether you can make a point in writing, because that is most of this job.
- Attach a CV, or send a link to your LinkedIn profile. One page is plenty. We care more about the note.
Use AI to help if you want — we sell AI, we would be odd about it otherwise. But a note with nothing of you in it reads exactly like a note with nothing of you in it, and it will go nowhere.
Every email that arrives this way gets read, and every one gets a reply. If sending it feels like too much effort, the outreach half of this job is going to be a problem.
Defy Group Limited is an equal opportunities employer. We hire on the strength of the thinking, not the shape of the CV.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
