Company Description
Smiths Belfast, part of Smiths Metal Centres Ltd, opened in November 2018 as the company’s fourteenth UK local service centre. The 7,500 sq. ft. facility stocks plate, sheet, and bar products in a comprehensive range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Plate and bar products can be cut on-site using in-house processing services, allowing responsive and tailored supply for customers. Located in the Titanic Quarter, the centre benefits from close proximity to the motorway network, providing convenient access and efficient distribution across the Belfast Metropolitan Area.
Role Description
The Sales Executive is a full-time, on-site role based at the Smiths Belfast service centre in the Belfast Metropolitan Area. This role involves managing and growing a portfolio of customers, handling inbound and outbound sales calls, preparing quotations, and following up to secure orders. The Sales Executive will work closely with the operations and processing teams to ensure accurate product selection, pricing, and timely delivery of metal products.

Daily responsibilities include:

- Building strong customer relationships
- Identifying new business opportunities
- Maintaining up-to-date sales records in the CRM system
- Providing product and service information to support customer decision-making
- Monitoring market trends
- Contributing to local sales targets
- Collaborating with colleagues to deliver high levels of customer service
Qualifications
- Strong sales, account management, and customer relationship-building skills, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, or distribution environments.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person, on the phone, and via email, with competent negotiation and influencing skills.
- Experience working with pricing, quotations, and order processing systems; familiarity with CRM or ERP tools is beneficial.
- Comfort with learning product ranges and technical specifications, with attention to detail when handling orders and documentation.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple enquiries, follow-ups, and deadlines in a busy service centre.
- Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively with warehouse, processing, and logistics teams to meet customer expectations.
- Prior experience in metals, engineering, or industrial supply is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Relevant education or training in business, sales, or a related field is beneficial; equivalent practical experience is also valued.
