Timber & Panel Sales Executive Position

James Latham is one of the UK's leading independent distributors of timber, panels, and decorative surfaces. We are looking for a motivated, customer-focused Timber & Panel Sales Executive to join our busy and successful branch team in Yate.

The Role

As an Internal Sales Executive at James Latham, you will play a key role in developing sales of our timber and panel products to both existing and prospective customers. You will proactively identify opportunities to grow business, expand market presence for value-added products, and build strong customer relationships.

Previous experience selling timber, decorative panels, or associated products would be advantageous, although full product training and ongoing development will be provided. We also offer excellent career progression opportunities, including opportunities to visit suppliers and manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing excellent customer service via phone, email, and other communication channels.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with existing and new customers.
  • Promoting and selling timber, panel, and value-added products.
  • Liaising with suppliers to source products and manage customer requirements.
  • Negotiating prices and securing profitable sales outcomes.
  • Monitoring and reporting on sales activity and performance.
  • Working towards and exceeding agreed sales targets.
  • Utilising technology and business systems to improve efficiency and enhance the customer experience.
  • Supporting the wider branch team to ensure excellent service levels.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and customer-focused.
  • Experienced in a sales, internal sales, customer service, or business development role.
  • Confident communicating with customers and suppliers.
  • Commercially aware with strong negotiation skills.
  • Organised and capable of managing their own workload.
  • Comfortable using IT systems and technology.
  • A strong team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

Experience within the timber, panel, builders' merchant, construction products, or related sectors would be beneficial but is not essential.
