Sales Executive

Location: Oldbury, West Midlands
Salary: Up to and around £38k+ depending on candidate experience (+company car)
Hours: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
Type: Permanent, Full-time

Project Partners are now recruiting for an experienced Sales Executive to come and join a fantastic sales team based in Oldbury, West Midlands working within the wholesale building materials industry.

Purpose of the Role

To develop and grow profitable sales within one of the largest UK markets (Birmingham) by securing new business opportunities, maintaining strong customer relationships, and delivering sales targets while promoting excellent customer service and supporting the company's commercial objectives.

The Role

Business Development

  • Identify and target new customers and sales opportunities.
  • Generate leads through networking, referrals, market research, and contacting customers utilising our database.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase market share for your respective plants.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
  • Regularly visit customers to understand their needs and provide solutions.
  • Resolve customer issues and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Sales Performance

  • Achieve agreed sales, revenue, and margin targets.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial agreements.

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and market trends.
  • Identify opportunities and threats within the marketplace.
  • Provide regular market feedback to management.

Account Management

  • Manage key customer accounts to maximise retention and growth.
  • Review customer performance and identify upselling or cross-selling opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and opportunities.

Reporting and Administration

  • Maintain CRM systems with accurate customer and sales information.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and activity updates.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal sales, operations, shipping, logistics, and technical teams.
  • Coordinate customer requirements to ensure successful delivery of products and services.
  • Support marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns.

Experience Typically Required

  • Proven experience in sales, business development, or account management.
  • Experience meeting revenue and margin targets.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence decision-makers.
  • Customer relationship management experience.
  • Industry knowledge relevant to the sector would be advantageous.

Organisational Skills

  • Team Player
  • Ability to manage own workload in a high-volume environment
  • Worked in a role that has had customer contact

Personal Skills

  • Interpersonal & Communication skills
  • Telephone skills
  • Customer Focused
  • IT proficient (in house systems)
