POSITION SUMMARY

As our Sales Executive at St. Pancras it is your responsibility to act as one point of contact between the client and the hotel at all stages of the booking process from initial enquiry, contracting through to event co-ordination and billing. To communicate in an effective and timely manner all the clients specific requirements to all relevant departments. To ensure that company policies and legislation are adhered to specifically in the management of events.

Extraordinary Operations

  • Strong organizational skills and always adhering to deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively influence and guide on decisions, problem solve, coach and develop for positive results.
  • Use of Marriott International systems – Opera and SFA
  • Microsoft Office programmes including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.
  • Experience and understanding of financial reporting.

  • Always deliver and support the hotel and brand’s standards, including knowledge of the hotel, its history, the Navigator and the R-Way.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required training sessions including morning stand-up meetings and any other as required.

  • Work as a strong and committed team member and colleague, as well as proactively nurturing any stakeholder relationships.
  • Develops associates’ sales knowledge across the hotel.
  • Coach & mentor junior associates in the team.

  • Proactively contribute ideas and shares creative solutions to make St Pancras the best possible workplace and destination of choice for guests.
  • Stays ahead of current developments within the 5 Star Luxury Market specific to new openings, competitor insight, current trends, government guidance, customer information, company mergers and new business opportunities.

You’ll Be Expected to Deliver on the Following

  • Ability to work collaboratively with hotel service team in providing exceptional customer service
  • Possesses excellent telephone sales skills
  • Excellent selling skills and understanding of sales processes; can effectively up sell products
  • Knowledge of property-specific business segments (e.g. group, catering, transient)
  • Knowledge of contractual agreements and legal implications
  • Strong customer relationship management skills
  • Understands revenue management functions
  • Effective decision-making skills and the ability to influence others
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong presentation and platform skills
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Strong organization and working to deadline skills
  • Knowledge of overall hotel operations desirable
  • Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to interpret market data and apply to sales strategy
  • Ability to execute the sales strategy & hotel positioning statement
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs
  • Follow all company policies and procedures

Finance

  • Know and understand implicitly your financial goals, particularly Catering and Group pace by month versus forecast and budget.
  • Comply with all Marriott International policies and procedures, specifically in relation to financial reporting, sign-offs and procedures

Human Resources

  • Support a departmental orientation program for new starters to receive the appropriate new hiring training to successfully perform their job.
  • Participate and supports managers and supervisors in the performance appraisal process, providing feedback as needed.

You’ll need to know the following

  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new clients across all segments with the aim to drive future bookings.
  • Analyse the local market trends and opportunities and develop customer accounts within the local area.
  • Maintain and develop site inspection standards and engage with key managers and departments in order to maximise conversion potential.
  • Support the group and catering conversion and ensure key opportunities are maximised.
  • Attend weekly sales strategy meetings when required, being prepared to present and give updates on key sales actions.
  • Keep up to date with competitors, communicating findings with sales leadership team and adapting hotel offering to win business.
  • Influence decision makers at all levels.
  • Support the marketing team by keeping up to date the 3rd party sales sites including Cvent, Edge and Venue Directory.
  • Engage the sales team on new sales leads and opportunities and make aware of enquiries from managed accounts.
  • Participate and support with local blitz days, trade shows and related sales activity.
  • Use negotiating skills and sales abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
  • Utilize Marriott Global Source for resources and information (Training Energizers, segment websites, etc.).
  • Effectively manage and develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effectively use sales resources and administrative/support staff.
  • Previous hospitality experience required and sales experience in the 5 star/luxury lifestyle market desired.
  • Passion for sales and for achieving targets and objectives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Related Work Experience: At least 2 years of related work experience.
