The role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll take full ownership of the sales ledger and credit control. This is a hands-on role — you'll be on the phone to national wholesalers, independent distributors and contractors, so confidence and professionalism with customers matter as much as accuracy on the ledger.

Day to day, you will:

  • Record incoming payments and allocate them accurately against customer accounts, keeping balances correct and reconciled
  • Monitor the aged debtors report and take ownership of following up overdue balances
  • Contact customers by phone and email to chase outstanding payments professionally and promptly, building good working relationships with the people you're chasing — many of our customers are also long-standing trading partners
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies and queries on accounts receivable, liaising with customers and our internal sales team to resolve billing disputes and missing payments
  • Raise and issue invoices and credit notes with the appropriate approvals
  • Upload invoices to customer portals where required and monitor them through to payment
  • Maintain the sales ledger so customer accounts are accurate, complete and up to date
  • Support month-end processes and provide administrative support to the wider finance department as needed

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You'll have previous experience in a sales ledger or credit control role, ideally in a similar B2B environment where customers trade on account. You're accurate with numbers, organised under pressure, and comfortable picking up the phone to chase a payment without souring the relationship. Good Excel skills and experience with accounting software are important; experience with customer invoicing portals is a plus.

Most of all, you take pride in a clean ledger and a healthy debtor book, and you're happy working as part of a small, busy team.
