We're looking for commercially minded and people-focused Sales Manager to join our Distribution leadership team, leading a team of seven Telephony Account Managers within our Account Management Unit.
This is an exciting opportunity to combine people leadership, sales strategy, and market engagement within a business that continues to invest in growth and innovation. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering Royal London's Distribution strategy by developing talented sales professionals, strengthening relationships across the UK financial adviser market, and driving sustainable business growth through our propositions and solutions.
We would like to speak to either experienced sales leaders or candidates looking to step into a broader leadership role. This position offers significant scope to influence performance, shape culture, and make a measurable commercial impact.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of seven Telephony Account Managers, through observation, feedback, and structured development activity, helping them build confidence, capability, and commercial effectiveness.
- Create, implement, and review sales plans that deliver sustainable growth, retention, and new business opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key financial adviser firms, understanding their business priorities, challenges, and growth ambitions.
- Work collaboratively across Distribution and with proposition, investment, marketing, and technical teams to deliver outstanding adviser experiences.
- Support and lead sales campaigns, business initiatives, partnership events, workshops, and seminars.
- Use performance insights and management information to identify opportunities, drive improvement, and support successful outcomes.
- Ensure all activity is delivered in line with Royal London's governance, risk appetite, and regulatory standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
