Sales Manager

North Derbyshire
£30,000 - £35,000 + Bonus
Fulltime | Permanent

We are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Sales Manager to lead our sales team and drive growth across direct customer and e-commerce channels.

The successful candidate will motivate and develop a customer-facing team, monitor sales performance, manage sales administration and ensure an excellent customer experience. You will work closely with marketing and e-commerce teams to support promotions, improve online sales and identify opportunities for growth.

Ideal candidates will be based in or within easy commuting distance of Belper, Matlock, Ashbourne or Derby.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop the sales team, setting clear objectives and supporting ongoing performance improvement.
  • Drive sales across both direct customer and e-commerce channels.
  • Develop and deliver sales plans, promotional activity and commercial initiatives to achieve revenue and margin targets.
  • Monitor sales performance and key KPIs, identifying opportunities to improve conversion, customer retention and team results.
  • Work closely with e-commerce, marketing and operational colleagues to optimise online product availability, pricing, promotions and customer journeys.
  • Ensure customer enquiries, orders, returns and complaints are handled professionally and efficiently.
  • Oversee sales administration, including order processing, quotations, invoicing, customer records, reporting and CRM updates.
  • Produce accurate sales forecasts, pipeline updates and management reports.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, identifying opportunities for repeat business and account growth.

  • Experience leading, coaching and developing a customer-facing sales team.
  • Experience of e-commerce, online sales, digital customer journeys or working alongside e-commerce teams.
  • Knowledge of e-commerce platforms, online merchandising, digital marketing or customer acquisition.
  • Strong sales administration and organisational skills, including experience with CRM systems, sales reporting tools and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and relationship-building skills.
