Sales Manager - Automotive

On behalf of a well-established automotive company with a strong presence in the UK market, we are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to join the commercial team in Birmingham, with responsibility for driving business growth, developing key customer relationships and leading sales activities across the UK market.

About the Role

The company operates within the automotive sector, supplying high-quality products and technical solutions to established OEMs, Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers and automotive manufacturing businesses. The successful candidate will play a key role in defining and executing the commercial strategy, with direct responsibility for revenue growth, customer development and new business acquisition.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the commercial strategy in line with company growth objectives.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the UK automotive market.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with OEMs, Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers and strategic automotive customers.
  • Manage and develop a portfolio of key accounts, identifying opportunities for growth and increased market penetration.
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations and manage long-term supply agreements.
  • Monitor market trends, competitors and developments across the automotive industry.
  • Prepare commercial proposals, tenders and pricing strategies in collaboration with technical and operational teams.
  • Manage the sales pipeline, revenue forecasts, margins and key commercial KPIs.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, Operations, Supply Chain and Marketing to ensure customer requirements are effectively delivered.
  • Represent the company at automotive exhibitions, industry events and customer meetings.
  • Provide regular commercial reporting and forecasts to senior management.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of the company’s UK market strategy.

Profile

  • 5+ years of experience in Sales Management, Business Development or Commercial Management.
  • Proven experience within the automotive, automotive components, engineering or industrial manufacturing sector.
  • Established understanding of the UK automotive market and experience working with structured B2B customers.
  • Proven track record in new business development, key account management and revenue growth.
  • Experience managing complex negotiations and high-value commercial agreements.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a clear focus on revenue, profitability and customer development.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and operational teams.
  • Strong analytical and strategic approach to sales management.
  • Good knowledge of CRM systems and commercial reporting tools.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the UK and occasionally internationally.
