- Flat structure, reporting straight to the Sales Director, with the freedom and backing to implement your ideas
- A step up for an experienced field salesperson ready for management, or a return to the front line for a sales leader who misses the doing

The Client
An ambitious, privately owned business with a turnover of circa £60 million and a market-leading position in its sector. Well established, cash rich and successful, with decades of trading behind it and significant goodwill with its customers across the North of Scotland. They are now revitalising their sales structure and investing in their go-to-market strategy. This role is central to that plan. This is not a massive blue-chip where big ideas are deemed to be above your pay grade. It is a flat business where you report straight to the top, get heard and get backed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The Role
This is a practical, hands-on sales leadership role. You lead a field sales team by doing, teaching and mentoring, while personally owning and growing key accounts across a patch running from Aberdeen to Inverness and beyond. The customer base is built on established, ongoing buying accounts: relationships serviced for years rather than developed, customers buying one product line who could be buying several. Your job is to change that, first in your own accounts, then across the team. You will take a largely reactive account management team and turn them into focused, confident business developers, by upskilling them, showing them how it is done in front of customers, and inspiring them to go and win business rather than wait for it. You report directly to the Sales Director, with a flat management structure that means your ideas get implemented rather than filed.
The Candidate
You are a hands-on sales leader, or ready to become one. You have extensive B2B field sales experience, you understand territory management properly, and you know how to grow ongoing buying accounts rather than just look after them. You lead by example because you can still do the job better than most, and you get a kick out of teaching someone the craft and watching them win. That might mean you are an established, customer-facing sales leader who wants a business where the results are visibly yours. Or it might mean you are the strongest rep in your current team, with a full toolkit and no route into management where you are. Either way, sector background is open. Familiarity with construction-related products would be a bonus, nothing more.

Circa £65,000 basic salary, with £10,000 to £15,000 of on-target earnings on top and a full car package. The rest of the package is the environment: a successful, privately owned business investing in its commercial future, and a role senior enough to shape it.
