Sales Manager (North London)

Field-based | North London | £43,473 + Company Car

Location:

Home-based, covering North London - Watford, Enfield, Southgate etc

Hours:

37.5 hours per week

Regular travel throughout the territory, with occasional meetings, training and business events

We’re looking for a commercially driven Territory Sales Manager to take ownership of a North London territory, winning new customers and growing existing accounts across the food, food ingredients, bakery and food manufacturing sectors.

This is a home-based, field sales role where you’ll have the freedom to manage your territory, build strong customer relationships and drive profitable growth from prospecting right through to order fulfilment and payment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Win new business by identifying prospects, building relationships with decision-makers and converting opportunities.
  • Grow existing accounts through account development, promotions, cross-selling and identifying new product opportunities.
  • Manage your territory effectively, planning customer visits and maintaining a healthy sales pipeline.
  • Drive profitable sales, negotiating commercial terms, protecting margins and understanding the impact of volume, pricing and product mix.
  • Own the customer journey, from initial enquiry and order through to delivery, payment and ongoing service.
  • Manage credit and payments, proactively addressing overdue accounts and protecting cash flow.
  • Resolve customer issues quickly, working with internal teams to deliver effective solutions.
  • Stay commercially sharp, keeping up to date with market conditions, competitors and customer needs.
  • Build product expertise, understanding applications, specifications and benefits and working with technical colleagues where required.
  • Collaborate across the business with sales, operations, transport, technical and support teams.

What you’ll bring

Essential:

  • Proven field sales experience managing a territory or customer base.
  • A strong track record of winning new business and growing revenue.
  • Experience negotiating prices and commercial terms.
  • Confidence delivering price increases and protecting margins.
  • Experience managing customer accounts within agreed credit terms.
  • Strong commercial understanding of sales, pricing, margin and profitability.
  • CRM and Microsoft Office skills, including Excel.
  • Excellent relationship-building and consultative selling skills.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with a genuine new-business mindset.
  • Strong organisation, planning and territory-management skills.
  • Confidence handling challenging commercial conversations.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Essential

  • Experience in food ingredients, bakery, food manufacturing, flour milling or related sectors.
  • Experience selling to wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers or independent businesses.
  • Knowledge of food ingredients, product applications, specifications and commodity markets.
  • Experience developing promotions or customer marketing initiatives.
  • Existing contacts across relevant food and manufacturing markets.
  • Ability to confidently discuss technical product performance and applications.
