Sales Manager

A vacancy has arisen for the position of Sales Manager, who reporting directly into the Commercial Director will be responsible for managing the sales function within the business.

Candidates must have at least two years’ experience of successfully managing a cross-sector sales team within the drinks industry. They must have proven experience of delivering service excellence and effective management of departmental budgets.

The successful applicant will be a self-starter and a responsible individual who will be able to work with the minimum of supervision. Excellent IT, interpersonal and presentation skills together with a high level of numeracy and literacy are essential and he/she will be able to demonstrate excellent people management and motivational skills.

Key skills required for this position include:

  • Strong sales, negotiation and account management skills, with the ability to build profitable customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both internally and externally.
  • Good commercial awareness, including understanding of sales targets, margins, pricing and customer profitability.
  • Ability to manage staff recruitment, appraisal and development.
  • Ability to manage, motivate and develop a sales team on an ongoing basis and in a professional and positive manner.
  • Strong planning, organisation and administration skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.

In addition to the above, the successful applicant will need to demonstrate an appreciation of the wider Oakham Ales business vision and a sound knowledge of the drinks industry as he/she will be required to represent the Sales function on the Company Management Team. This is a highly demanding role, which will suit an ambitious, focused, and determined individual who wishes to be part of a very forward-thinking and driven management team.
