Position Summary

The Sales Manager is responsible for cultivating and growing a portfolio of key accounts while identifying new business opportunities that support the continued success of The Stafford London.

As an ambassador of one of London's most renowned luxury hotels, the Sales Manager will develop strong relationships across assigned market segments, driving revenue through a highly personalised and consultative sales approach. The role requires a passion for hospitality, a deep understanding of luxury travel and corporate markets, and the ability to consistently deliver exceptional service whilst achieving commercial objectives.

Position Scope

The Sales Manager will develop, manage and grow business within designated market segments, including Corporate, Leisure and Group business, with responsibility for both new business development and account management.

Working closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing, wider Commercial Team and operational departments, the Sales Manager will contribute to achieving hotel revenue targets whilst enhancing The Stafford's reputation as one of London's leading luxury hotels.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management & Business Development

  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of existing and prospective accounts across assigned market segments.
  • Build meaningful and lasting relationships with corporate clients, travel advisors, agencies, DMCs and key industry partners.
  • Identify, qualify and secure new business opportunities that align with the hotel's commercial strategy.
  • Create and implement account development plans to maximise production and revenue growth.
  • Conduct regular sales calls, client appointments, networking activities and site inspections.
  • Negotiate rates, contracts and commercial agreements within established hotel guidelines.
  • Ensure consistent communication with clients, maintaining the highest levels of service and responsiveness.
  • Actively seek opportunities to increase market share within targeted sectors.

Revenue Generation

  • Deliver individual revenue targets across rooms, groups, meetings and events business.
  • Drive incremental opportunities across all hotel outlets, including food and beverage experiences.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of market trends, demand patterns and competitor activity.
  • Collaborate closely with Revenue, Reservations and Events teams to optimise conversion and profitability.
  • Monitor production and performance of key accounts, identifying opportunities for growth and retention.
  • Ensure a healthy sales pipeline through proactive prospecting and relationship development.

Brand Representation

  • Act as a passionate ambassador for The Stafford London at all times.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, roadshows, networking events, client functions and industry exhibitions.
  • Host familiarisation trips, educational visits and client entertainment activities.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of The Stafford's history, heritage, products and guest experience.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitor hotels and the wider luxury hospitality landscape.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate account records and activity within designated CRM systems.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly sales activity reports in line with department standards.
  • Manage proposals, contracts and client correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support departmental budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning exercises.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies and procedures relating to contracts, deposits and account administration.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with colleagues across Sales, Marketing, Revenue, Events and Operations to ensure a seamless guest and client experience.
  • Share market intelligence, business opportunities and client feedback with the wider Commercial Team.
  • Support junior team members when required and contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and hotel initiatives.
  • Undertake any reasonable duties requested by the Director of Sales & Marketing or General Manager.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

Experience

  • Previous hotel sales experience within a luxury or premium hospitality environment.
  • Proven track record in achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience managing corporate, leisure and/or group business segments.
  • Strong account management and new business development experience.
  • Knowledge of the London luxury hotel market is highly desirable.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Naturally confident networker with strong relationship-building abilities.
  • Commercially minded with a proactive approach to business development.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Opera, Delphi, Cvent or similar hotel systems is advantageous.
  • Professional, polished and passionate about luxury hospitality.
