Job Purpose
The Sales Manager will play a key role in leading and scaling our new business sales team with clear accountability for billing performance, revenue growth, team capability, and client development. This role blends leadership with hands-on sales execution to ensure high-performance standards, coaching excellence, and consistent, predictable billing. This role champions best practice, enables sales excellence across the team, and guides customers from first engagement through to established Key Account status.
Duties & Responsibilities
Team Leadership, Development & Coaching
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of sales consultants.
- Deliver structured coaching to improve prospecting, pipeline management, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Create a culture of accountability, positivity, and continuous improvement with clear performance rhythms (1:1s, call coaching, desk-side support, tailored development sessions).
- Ensure new starters are effectively onboarded, motivated, and up to speed quickly.

Sales Performance & Billing Ownership
- Drive consultants to achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual billing targets.
- Monitor performance metrics, maintain accurate revenue forecasts, and ensure healthy pipeline coverage.
- Embed strong CRM discipline and pipeline hygiene to improve predictability of results.
- Support team members on key calls, pitches, proposals, and negotiations to raise conversion rates.
New Business Development
- Proactively lead from the front by generating and closing new business opportunities.
- Identify and prioritise high-value growth sectors and emerging markets aligned to strategy.
- Build new customer relationships via outbound activity, networking, referrals, and targeted campaigns.
- Partner with Marketing to maximise inbound opportunities and improve lead quality.
Client Development & Scaling to Key Accounts
- Ensure new clients receive excellent service and are nurtured into high-value, strategic accounts.
- Oversee account development strategies with clear growth plans for each new client.
- Collaborate with Delivery, Care, and Operations teams to ensure flawless fulfilment and customer satisfaction.
- Use data, insights, and relationship mapping to expand wallet share; identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities globally.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure compliance with internal processes, billing standards, and contract accuracy.
- Work with Company Operations teams to ensure clients are set up cleanly and can scale efficiently.
- Maintain alignment with the wider Sales and Leadership teams to ensure consistency of expectations and approach.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Proven experience in staffing/recruitment sales with a consistent personal billing track record.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrable coaching and mentoring success.
- Ability to build, develop, and scale sales teams.
- Expert understanding of the full recruitment lifecycle and customer sales process.
- Skilled in outbound prospecting, consultative selling, and closing.
- Strong commercial acumen and a data-driven mindset.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building capabilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using CRM / sales enablement tools.

Desirable
- Experience in telecoms, digital transformation, or technical staffing markets.
- Experience taking small or new accounts through to Key Account status.
- Previous leadership of new business pods or sales start-up teams.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification.
