Position:
The Sales Manager is a hands-on, tactical leader responsible for the day-to-day operational execution of the sales strategy. This role focuses on leading, motivating, and developing Sales Team Leaders to ensure the Inbound, Outbound, and Admin teams consistently adhere to sales processes, maintain strict compliance, and achieve revenue and gross profit targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop Team Leaders across Inbound, Outbound, and Administration, ensuring they are equipped to manage and coach their teams effectively.
- HR First Point of Contact: Serve as the primary "first line" contact for team HR matters, including initial inquiries, employee relations, investigations, disciplinary hearings, and appeals.
- Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, create structured performance improvement/support plans, and proactively keep team members on track to meet expectations. Support the implementation of Team Lead and Sales Advisors KPIs.
- Resource & Budget Management: Oversee team budgets, staffing allocations, and daily operational needs.
- Process & Compliance Enforcement: Oversee full sales process compliance, ensuring all reps adhere strictly to corporate procedures and governance.
- Financial Sign-Off: Review and formally approve deals, quotes, or transactions exceeding Β£8,000.
- CRM & Data Quality: Maintain total data integrity in the CRM. Ensure leads are assigned correctly and promptly, with zero outstanding tasks or unaddressed pipelines.
- KPI, Revenue & GP Tracking: Continuously monitor and drive daily/weekly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), revenue, and Gross Profit (GP) metrics to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
- Key Account Engagement: Remain directly involved with higher-level, key customer accounts to strengthen relationships and support major deal closures.
- Risk & Complaint Escalation: Act as a critical point of escalation for complex customer issues. Directly communicate any critical or business-risk customer complaints to the Head of Sales, complete with root-cause analysis and solution-based resolutions.
- Strategy Execution: Translate strategies designed by the Head of Sales into daily and weekly actionable targets for the sales floor.
- Reporting & Forecasting: Produce accurate, tactical sales forecasts, revenue reports, and pipeline analysis for the Head of Sales.
- Operational Cover: Provide direct leadership and operational coverage during Team Leader absences to ensure business continuity.

Iβm in my final year doing Economics and I donβt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer β it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donβt need a masters. Letβs look at the ones youβd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
