Sales Manager – Solar PV & Battery Energy Storage (BESS)
Greater Manchester, North-West Area | Hybrid | £50,000-£75,000 + Benefits
Are you an experienced B2B sales professional with a background in Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage, renewables, energy services, engineering or technical solutions?
We’re working with a growing business operating at the forefront of the energy transition, helping commercial and industrial customers reduce energy costs and increase the use of renewable energy through innovative Solar PV and BESS solutions.
We’re looking for a commercially driven Sales Manager to take ownership of new business development and the full sales cycle, from initial prospecting through to contract award.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for building and managing a strong pipeline of commercial, industrial and larger-scale renewable energy opportunities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and developing new business opportunities
- Building relationships with customers, consultants and industry stakeholders
- Managing opportunities from initial lead through to project award
- Developing and managing sales pipelines and forecasts
- Leading tenders, proposals and bid strategy
- Working closely with technical and commercial teams to develop compelling customer solutions
- Reviewing technical and commercial assumptions and challenging where appropriate
- Negotiating commercial terms and supporting contract execution
- Maintaining accurate CRM records
- Representing the business at customer meetings, conferences and industry events
- Travelling to customer and project sites when required

What we're looking for
We're interested in people with a proven track record in technical B2B sales, business development or commercial roles, ideally within one or more of the following sectors:
- 🔋 Battery Energy Storage / BESS
- ☀️ Solar PV / Renewable Energy
- ⚡ Energy Services
- 🏗️ Engineering / Infrastructure / Construction
- 🔧 Electrical Contracting
- 🏢 Facilities Management
- 🌐 Building Technologies
- 💼 Other complex technical B2B environments
You'll ideally bring:
- Proven experience generating and converting new business
- Strong pipeline and opportunity management skills
- Experience managing complex tenders or commercial proposals
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation capability
- Confidence working with technical and commercial teams
- Experience using CRM systems — Microsoft Dynamics would be advantageous
- Strong IT literacy and an interest in modern digital and AI-enabled tools
- A proactive, entrepreneurial approach to sales

A technical or engineering degree would be beneficial, but commercial experience and industry knowledge are more important.
Hybrid working is available, with an expectation of approximately 3 days per week in the office when you're not travelling for business.
