An exciting opportunity for a commercially minded Sales Manager

Join a specialist engineering business operating across a range of manufacturing sectors. Whilst technical aptitude and manufacturing understanding are important, the company is open to a wide variety of sector backgrounds and is primarily seeking an individual with a proven ability to deliver sales results.

Client Details

Our client is a recognised international engineering manufacturer supplying specialist equipment and technical solutions into a broad range of industrial and manufacturing markets. Their products support manufacturers involved with paper, film, plastics, packaging, converting, and other continuous process industries.

The business has an established market presence, strong technical capability, and a reputation for delivering high levels of customer support and service.

Description

Reporting to the Regional Sales Director, the Sales Manager will:

  • Develop and grow relationships with existing customers.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities.
  • Manage project sales opportunities from enquiry to order.
  • Provide technical and commercial support to customers.
  • Work closely with engineering, service and technical teams.
  • Deliver quotations, proposals and sales presentations.
  • Support equipment installations, commissioning and customer training where required.
  • Travel across the UK.
  • Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions and customer meetings.
  • Increase sales across existing and developing markets.
  • Build a strong pipeline of project opportunities.
  • Manage medium-value capital equipment and system sales.
  • Develop long-term customer partnerships.
  • Support continued market growth across manufacturing sectors.
  • Deliver against agreed sales and commercial objectives.

Profile

The Sales Manager will have:

  • Background within manufacturing, engineering or industrial markets.
  • Proven track record in sales, business development or project sales.
  • Ability to manage longer-term sales opportunities and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercially driven with a consultative sales approach.
  • Comfortable discussing technical products and applications.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Open to candidates from a broad range of manufacturing and engineering sectors.

Most important is the ability to demonstrate:

  • Consistent sales success.
  • Strong project management throughout the sales cycle.
  • Technical curiosity and commercial awareness.
  • Experience managing customer relationships.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and convert them into revenue.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach to business development.
