About the role:

The Sales Manager (covering both Bristol and Swansea) is responsible for the daily management of the internal sales team of 3 people and 3 External Account Managers across both Sites to ensure their monthly/yearly sales targets are achieved, current expectations of £5m p.a. gross profit.

Reporting daily to the Regional Service and Sales Manager, the role will be responsible for ensuring that key products are promoted and grown successfully to targeted markets and business sectors through a strong, focused approach.

It is vital that they coach, motivate, and performance manage their team. Ensuring they all have a clear understanding of Brenntag’s key strengths and attributes, selling these benefits to develop quality long-standing business relationships.

The individual must be able to embrace as well as identify new opportunities and see them through to a satisfactory conclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Full line management and ensure good time management practice for each Account Manager (E&I).
  • Set weekly targets and review outcome – these should be provided by each AM (E&I) at their 1-2-1.
  • Prepare a PPM (Personal Performance Management) for all staff.
  • Prepare a geographical business development plan/strategy for each area in line with product strengths and targeted industries.
  • Individual customer development plan for each of our top priorities, clear objectives, good call preparation prior to phone call or visit, plan for the next step.
  • Joint personal visits to customers alongside an AM to provide support and coaching.
  • Analyse through CRM, CGE, and Pivot reports, accounts, and managed products to ensure maximum profitability is achieved.
  • Incoming sales leads, assess and allocate for response same day.
  • Contracts & Call-offs to ensure clear unambiguous, accurate documentation.
  • Managed product campaigns in close liaison with the Product Management team in Leeds.
  • Mini product campaigns that will be driven by market conditions i.e. product shortage, significant price movement.
  • Ensure all product price increases/decreases are implemented to Brenntag’s customer base through PAN/PPG or manually.
  • Analyse management tools for Review.
  • Complete weekly/monthly 1-2-1 with all team members focusing on key targets and actions.
  • Ensure Brenntag’s CRM system is being used effectively and accurately by all sales personnel.
  • Ensure excellent, clear communication is achieved with other departments within our business to ensure efficient time management is achieved to grow sales effectively.
  • To ensure the Internal Sales Team monthly sales budget is achieved.
  • Maintain good regular contact and develop professional working relationship with customers.
  • To provide the Regional Sales Manager with a detailed monthly report of activity and performance against target.
  • Ensure any customer complaints are logged in the Quality System and passed on to the Quality & CX Manager as a matter of some urgency.
  • Any other requests of a reasonable nature that may be required by the management on an ad-hoc basis.

  • Degree education or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of working in a commercial environment is essential, with excellent analytical and sales skills.
  • Must have a good knowledge of modern ERP & CRM systems, Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
