Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (DOE) plus Commission
Role Overview
Electra Commercial Vehicles Ltd is seeking an ambitious and results-driven Sales Manager to support the growth of both our core commercial vehicle products and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) sales business. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies, building strong customer relationships, managing key accounts, and driving revenue growth across our product and service portfolio; with both Local Authorities and users of GSE equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Business Development
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve company revenue and profitability targets.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities across key market sectors.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, and customer engagement.
- Lead negotiations and close sales agreements with fleet operators, logistics companies, local authorities, and commercial customers.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to identify growth opportunities.
GSE Sales & Market Development
- Develop and implement a targeted GSE sales strategy covering airports, airlines, ground handling companies, airport service providers, logistics operators, and specialist GSE fleet owners.
- Develop relationships with airport authorities, airlines, ground handlers, GSE rental companies, and equipment distributors to identify new sales opportunities.
- Build a detailed understanding of customer operating requirements, duty cycles, fleet replacement plans, decarbonisation targets, and total cost of ownership.
- Lead sales of new and retrofit electric Ground Support Equipment, including identifying opportunities for fleet electrification and replacement of diesel-powered equipment.
- Develop relationships with international GSE distributors and strategic partners to support market expansion.

Customer Relationship Management
- Develop long-term relationships with key customers and strategic accounts.
- Ensure exceptional levels of customer service throughout the sales process.
- Conduct regular customer visits and presentations to promote Electra’s products and services.
- Manage customer enquiries, quotations, tenders, and contract negotiations.
Sales Performance & Reporting
- Prepare and deliver accurate sales forecasts and reports.
- Monitor sales performance against targets and implement corrective actions where required.
- Maintain CRM records and ensure sales activities are accurately documented.
- Provide regular market intelligence and customer feedback to senior management.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations, Finance, Marketing, and After-Sales teams to ensure seamless customer delivery.
- Support the development of marketing campaigns, exhibitions, and industry events.
- Contribute to product development discussions by providing market and customer insights.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Achievement of sales revenue and margin targets.
- New customer acquisition.
- Growth of existing customer accounts.
- Conversion rates from opportunities to sales.
- Accuracy of sales forecasting.
- Customer satisfaction and retention levels.
- Market share growth within target sectors.

Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a sales management or senior business development role.
- Strong track record of delivering and exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Experience managing key accounts and complex sales cycles.
- Strong commercial awareness and financial understanding.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience within commercial vehicles, automotive, transport, fleet management, engineering, or related industries.
- Knowledge of electric vehicle technology and the commercial EV market.
- Experience managing and developing sales teams.
- Understanding of public sector procurement and tender processes.
- Experience selling Ground Support Equipment (GSE), ideally to airports, airlines, ground handlers, or GSE fleet operators.
