The Role: GTM Engineer Manager (Sales)
As a GTM Engineer Manager at Clay, you’ll lead and scale a team of Mid-Market/Enterprise GTM Engineers—blending technical expertise with consultative advice to unlock Clay’s full potential for customers. This isn’t just team management—you’ll architect how Clay approaches high-stakes GTM motions, coach engineers to become trusted advisors, and reshape how companies think about growth.
You balance systems, creativity, and customer impact, ensuring scalability without sacrificing bespoke success.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Build a high-performing team of GTM Engineers who excel in both technical consultancy and sales.
- Recruit, onboarding, and coaching engineers to balance technical depth and consultative selling.
- Foster a culture of curiosity and impact, enabling scalable enablement systems while preserving diversity in solutions.
Playbook & Process Ownership
- Design and refine frameworks for:
- Discovery methodologies
- Demo structures
- Qualification criteria
- Complex deal workstreams
- Strike a balance between rigor and flexibility, empowering creativity when needed and enforcing structure when critical.

- Bridge Sales Leadership, Product, and Customer Success, synthesizing insights from enterprise deals.
- Translate patterns into actionable product feedback, ensuring the field has the tools needed to win.
- Act as the voice of the market, interfacing with teams to keep GTM engineering aligned with Clay’s vision.
What You’ll Bring
Experience & Attitude
This role is for someone who thrives on coaching, scalability, and creativity. You:
- Have 6+ years leading technical GTM teams, including AEs, Solutions Engineers, or Sales Engineers.
- Proven deal execution experience with Mid-Market/Enterprise B2B sales cycles, including:
- Navigating technical objections
- Closely managing high-stakes deals
- Aligning technical insights with win strategies
- Passion for building systems & GTM automation, believing in Clay’s mission of redefining how enterprises scale.
