Sales Manager – IT Managed Services
Sheffield | Hybrid Working
Up to £65,000 basic + £6,000 car allowance + commission
Base salary negotiable depending on experience
I’m recruiting a Sales Manager for an established and growing UK technology and Managed Services business, leading a small team of Account Managers and Business Development Managers focused on the SMB market.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys developing salespeople, creating structure and driving performance. You’ll inherit an existing team rather than build one from scratch, with responsibility for helping both new-business and account-management sellers maximise their potential.
The business has a broad technology proposition, giving the team the ability to have genuinely consultative conversations with customers rather than being restricted to a single product or service.
The role
You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and commercial performance of the team, including:
- Leading, coaching and developing a small team of Account Managers and Business Development Managers
- Driving performance across both new-logo acquisition and existing-account growth
- Running regular 1-2-1s, pipeline reviews, forecasting and performance conversations
- Helping the team identify opportunities to increase customer spend and wallet share
- Supporting BDMs with new-business strategy, larger opportunities and complex sales cycles
- Developing a consistent, high-performance sales culture while remaining close enough to the team to coach effectively
- Working alongside technical, operational and wider commercial teams to help sellers convert opportunities
- Maintaining strong visibility of pipeline, activity, forecasting and individual performance

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for
I’m particularly interested in speaking with experienced Sales Managers or Team Leaders from an MSP, VAR, IT solutions, telecoms or technology services environment.
You’ll ideally have experience managing salespeople selling into SMB customers and understand the different approaches required to successfully manage both Account Managers and new-business BDMs.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Knowledge of solutions across areas such as Managed Services, Cloud, Microsoft, Cyber Security, Connectivity, Networking, Unified Communications and Professional Services would be particularly relevant.
More importantly, the business is looking for someone who can coach rather than simply manage by numbers – someone capable of understanding individual sellers, improving performance and creating the structure and accountability required for the team to succeed.
Package
The role is based in Sheffield with hybrid working and offers a basic salary of up to £65,000, although there is flexibility depending on the individual and the base salary is negotiable. You'll also receive a £6,000 car allowance plus commission, giving you the opportunity to increase earnings based on team performance.
If you’re currently leading a technology sales team, or you’re an experienced sales leader looking for a role where you can have a genuine impact on the development and performance of a growing SMB sales function, I’d be interested in speaking with you.
