Our client is a globally established leader in the labels, packaging, and printing sector, serving major international brands across consumer and industrial markets. The group maintains an extensive international footprint and is recognized for its strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, and long-term customer partnerships.

As part of its ongoing strategic expansion, the organization is strengthening its commercial capabilities to accelerate growth within the UK's industrial markets. This role is central to that initiative – a commercially urgent and strategically important appointment designed to drive top-line performance and diversify the customer base.

About position:

The Sales Manager Industry role is a senior commercial position with full responsibility for new business acquisition within the UK industrial market. The role combines strategic market development with a strong focus on leveraging an existing customer network to identify and convert immediately actionable opportunities.

The role requires a commercially aggressive, entrepreneurial leader with a strong "hunter mindset", capable of generating incremental revenue. The candidate will be responsible not only for developing new customer relationships but for actively using their network to open doors in priority industrial verticals. The focus is on building a sustainable sales pipeline while also pursuing short-term revenue opportunities.

Working closely with the regional and group leadership, this role offers high visibility within the organization and the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the commercial direction of an established and strategically important market with strong growth potential.

Reporting:

This role will report to the VP Sales and maintain close alignment with the UK sales leadership and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Business Development & Market Expansion:
    • Lead and manage the identification and acquisition of new industrial customers across the UK, with a primary focus on new-logo acquisition.
    • Set strategic priorities for market segments, ensuring alignment with production capabilities and group objectives, with a focus on Chemicals, Agrochemicals, Petrochemicals, Lubricants, Automotive, Automotive Aftermarket, Spare Parts, or Industrial Components.
    • Drive market expansion by proactively leveraging an existing network of industrial customers and decision-makers to create and convert opportunities.

  • Customer & Stakeholder Management:

    • Utilize existing relationships to gain rapid access to potential customers and build credibility.
    • Strengthen customer engagement by conducting visits and commercial presentations, understanding their labelling, packaging, and application requirements.
    • Act as a senior commercial partner for key accounts, engaging with procurement, operations, technical, marketing, and supply-chain stakeholders.
  • Commercial & Operational Integration:

    • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including estimating, customer service, technical, and production, to develop suitable technical and commercial solutions.
    • Prepare or contribute to quotations and commercial proposals, demonstrating a clear understanding of pricing, quotations, margins, and commercial trade-offs.
    • Balance competitiveness with profitability, protecting margin while winning business.
  • Forecasting, Reporting & Strategy:

    • Ensure pipeline visibility through disciplined forecasting, opportunity tracking, and regular reporting.
    • Support process improvements to strengthen commercial routines, efficiency, and execution.
    • Operate with autonomy while maintaining strong alignment with the VP Sales and UK sales leadership, providing clear updates on priorities, progress, and risks.

Requirements:

  • Proven new-business hunter with a strong track record of developing and winning new customers in B2B manufacturing environments.
  • Strong background in printing, labels, flexible packaging, cartons, corrugated packaging, industrial identification, technical print, or other relevant packaging segments – the critical requirement across all of these is direct and demonstrable relationships within the target industrial verticals.
  • Extensive knowledge of the UK industrial market and a demonstrable personal network within one or more priority verticals, such as Chemicals, Agrochemicals, Petrochemicals, Lubricants, Automotive, Automotive Aftermarket, Spare Parts, or Industrial Components.
  • Proven track record in new business development and driving sustained growth.
  • Strong commercial awareness of pricing, material costs, production complexity, and margin management.
  • Experience managing a geographically broad, national territory in the UK.
