Business Development Manager

Based in the North West, this Regional Sales Manager / BDM role focuses on sales of Capital equipment into Food and Beverage manufacturers. You'll manage some existing accounts with a clear strategy of opening new clients, we know who they are, we need your charisma in approaching and converting them.

BASIC SALARY: Up to £65,000

Benefits

  • AOTE commission: £20,000 (£5,000 guaranteed in year one)
  • 25 Days Holiday, plus Bank holidays

LOCATION:

Home based in the North West of England

You could live: Manchester, Liverpool, Stoke on Trent, Preston, Blackburn, Chester, Warrington, Crewe or Stockport

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Business Development Manager: Capital Equipment: Food and Beverage Manufacturing

New business takes time, effort, and a particular type of character to be successful. It helps with a global business, outstanding reputation, and products with great USPs. As an award-winning capital equipment manufacturer, we can give you all three with huge brands amongst our customer base.

Whilst you'll inherit existing customers (c150) including some national and global brand owners, and you'll look to grow them, we want to be clear this is about engaging with those new targets as our products are built to last.

The real success in this role comes from your ability to open doors, build relationships, and win new business with your target audience.

You'll:

  • Take Full Ownership Of Your Territory
  • Developing long-term, strategic relationships (sales cycles include trials and demonstrations and can be 8 weeks, but also up to 2 years)
  • Identify, target and approach new applications and sales opportunities (we know most of your targets, 90 of which are food and beverage manufacturers)
  • Managing the full sales cycle from prospecting through to close - arranging trials where necessary
  • Working collaboratively across engineering, procurement, operations, and senior leadership decision makers to deliver the right technical solution
  • Average Order Values of c£15,000 - £30,000 with one to two sales per order, three to four orders per month.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being out in the field, getting face to face, influencing decisions, and building something over time.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Business Development Manager: Capital Equipment: Food and Beverage Manufacturing

To be successful in your application, you'll have a proven track record in selling to the F and B manufacturing arena, you'll understand how it works, and the critical role different equipment plays on the line. You'll understand who the right target decision makers are along with the key influences to ensure a sale goes through.

In addition to the above, you'll have:

  • Developed, created, and converted new business opportunities.
  • Previously managed the same region
  • Worked with similar sales cycles having technical conversations, with the ability to close and drive next steps.
