Southern Sales Manager - Distribution - £50k Basic + Bonus + Car
A global manufacturer of industrial automation solutions is looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to strengthen its presence across Southern England.
This is a field-based role focused on developing new business, growing existing customer relationships, and increasing market share across a diverse industrial customer base. It offers significant autonomy and is ideal for a consultative sales professional who enjoys building long-term partnerships and delivering technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new business growth across Southern England (M4 Corridor, South East, South Central & South West)
- Develop strong relationships with OEMs, machine builders, system integrators, distributors and industrial end users
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts
- Promote a range of industrial automation solutions through customer visits, presentations, demonstrations and training
- Work closely with channel partners to generate and convert opportunities
- Identify market trends, competitor activity and emerging customer requirements
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, forecasts and CRM records
- Represent the business at exhibitions, trade shows and industry networking events
- Collaborate with technical, customer support and marketing teams to maximise customer engagement and revenue growth

Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven track record in Business Development, Technical Sales or Account Management
- Experience selling into industrial automation, manufacturing, engineering, controls or electrical markets
- Strong consultative and solution-based selling skills
- Experience developing OEM, machine builder and systems integrator accounts
- Commercially driven with a proactive approach to new business generation
- Comfortable managing a large geographical territory
- Strong CRM, forecasting and pipeline management skills

Preferred Background
Candidates from industrial automation and control technology manufacturers are of particular interest, including experience with sensors, machine safety, connectivity, networking, motion control, PLC, HMI, IIoT and related technologies.
