Are you a passionate, results-driven sales professional with a love for books and publishing? Pan Macmillan are looking for a Sales Manager, Online to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving print sales across our online UK and European accounts. In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage key commercial relationships, shape sales strategies, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to bring incredible titles to readers worldwide.

Your Team

You will be joining the dynamic Group Sales team, working closely with the Group Sales Directors. Our team are collaborative, agile, and deeply passionate about publishing. We prioritize building trusted, long-term customer relationships, staying ahead of market trends, and fostering a supportive and energetic environment where everyone contributes to our overarching commercial and publishing goals.

Your Role

As the Sales Manager, Online, you will manage physical online accounts across UK and EU sales markets, with a primary focus on online print sales. Sitting at the heart of our commercial strategy, you will ensure seamless account operations, maximize sales opportunities, and support the Sales Directors in driving author and list strategies to grow our market footprint.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Commercial Success: Manage and achieve the print sales budget across UK and EU online accounts, driving revenue and growth for Pan Macmillan’s list.
  • Commercial Strategy & Execution: Oversee day-to-day operations across all agreed commercial terms with online retailers.
  • Forecasting & Stock Management: Provide accurate title sales forecasting and maintain consistent reporting on stock levels, working closely with Macmillan Distribution to ensure smooth account fulfillment.
  • Relationship Management: Build and nurture excellent, lasting customer relationships and key stakeholders within the business.
  • Author & Team Support: Support the Sales Directors on key strategic meetings, author strategies, and overarching market initiatives.

Essential Experience, Abilities, Knowledge, and Values You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Sales & Account Management Experience: Prior experience in sales within the publishing industry, along with a track record of managing key accounts.
  • Core Commercial Skills: Proven budget-management skills, precise sales forecasting, and excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Agility & Passion: A flexible, adaptable approach with the ability to respond effectively to changing market demands, coupled with a genuine passion for books and market trends.
  • Inclusion and Representation: An active dedication to promoting diverse voices and inclusive practices, taking personal responsibility for ensuring our workplace and publishing reflect the communities we serve.

Desirable Skills We’d Love You to Have

  • List Knowledge: Knowledge of Pan Macmillan’s list as well as some or all of the relevant sales territories.
  • Commercial Data & Reporting: Proficiency in advanced Excel alongside data analysis and reporting capabilities.

Salary

£46,000 to £50,000

Note on salary: The offered salary is dependent on experience and expertise. We benchmark our ranges to ensure fair, competitive compensation that grows with your impact.

Closing Date

18 October 2026

This is a full-time, fixed-contract role, and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.
