What You Will Do

Your primary objectives and deliverables are:

  • Generate new contacts and qualified introductions with senior decision-makers, including CIOs, Heads of Data, Heads of Risk, COOs, and CFOs in UK small and mid-market organisations.
  • Book and run high-quality client meetings that progress efficiently from discovery to proposal.
  • Build a new order book aligned to agreed revenue and margin targets across IQ’s AI and data engineering services.
  • Create a predictable pipeline of projects across data platform modernisation, analytics, AI use cases, and Microsoft cloud/data engagements, with clear forecast visibility.
  • Provide structured market intelligence on buyer priorities, typical use cases, competitor activity, and emerging data and AI opportunities.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a trusted connector and confident closer with a strong track record of selling data and AI services into small and mid-market organisations.

You should bring:

  • A strong network of senior decision-makers across relevant UK SMB sectors, focused on BFSI, Healthcare and Retail.
  • The ability to create credible introductions and open commercial conversations at executive level.
  • Practical understanding of sector priorities, buyer challenges, and common data and AI use cases.
  • Confidence engaging with CIOs, Heads of Data, Heads of Risk, COOs, CFOs, and other senior stakeholders.
  • Insight into competitor activity, emerging opportunities, and the business drivers behind data-led transformation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Track Record

Demonstrable experience creating new business from scratch, not simply farming existing accounts.

  • A strong record selling data engineering, analytics, AI, or adjacent technology services, with clear examples of deals closed and revenue delivered.
  • Evidence of moving consulting and project engagements from first meeting to signed statement of work within defined timeframes.

Technical and Consultative Selling Capability

  • Solid exposure to the Microsoft technology stack, including Azure, Power BI, SQL/Data Platform, Fabric, and AI services. Exposure to selling Databricks, Snowflakes and similar technologies will be an added advantage.
  • The ability to discuss data platforms, integration, governance, analytics, and applied AI use cases in clear business language.
  • A consultative, solution-led approach: shaping problems, co-creating value, and avoiding catalogue or rate-card selling.
  • Strong commercial instincts, including the ability to qualify opportunities quickly, understand deal economics, and involve IQ’s technical and delivery team at the right time.

Style & Approach

  • Hunter mindset: self-starting, resilient, and motivated by outcomes, revenue growth, and order book development.
  • Relationship-first style: able to open doors through credibility, insight, and value rather than generic outreach tactics.
  • Entrepreneurial approach: comfortable working in a lean, high-growth consulting environment and building a territory from near-zero.

Compensation

This is a high-reward contract for someone confident in their network and ability to convert introductions into business. We are not looking for activity for its own sake; we are looking for measurable results.

Future Opportunity

For the right person, there is a pathway to a permanent Head of Business Development role as IQ scales. If you successfully establish our market presence, we would want you to grow with us.
