🚜 Sales Manager – Used Equipment

📍 Newark, Nottinghamshire

💰 £50,000–£60,000 + Uncapped Commission

🕘 Monday–Friday | 9:00am–5:00pm

🌍 National UK Role

I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Sales Manager – Used Equipment to take responsibility for the complete used equipment lifecycle, from procurement and valuation through to refurbishment, marketing and final sale.

This is a commercially focused, customer-facing role suited to an experienced sales professional with a background in technical sales, account management, construction equipment, plant machinery or heavy equipment.

The Role

🔹 Trade-In Procurement & Valuation

  • Assessing the condition and specification of equipment offered in part exchange
  • Providing accurate trade-in valuations alongside the new equipment sales team
  • Attending online and physical auctions to monitor market values
  • Maintaining accurate used equipment valuation records
  • Completing purchase documentation

🔹 Used Equipment Sales & Marketing

  • Managing the sale of used equipment to UK and international customers
  • Coordinating photography, video and online listings
  • Marketing equipment across relevant industry platforms and social media
  • Negotiating sales in line with agreed margins
  • Managing the sales process and associated documentation
  • Organising and attending used equipment auctions

🔹 Refurbishment & Preparation

  • Assessing incoming equipment and identifying refurbishment requirements
  • Reviewing workshop recommendations and costs
  • Coordinating refurbishment plans and third-party suppliers
  • Monitoring refurbishment progress and updating stock values

🔹 Customer & Business Development

  • Visiting customers throughout the UK
  • Developing and maintaining long-term customer relationships
  • Identifying opportunities for new and used equipment sales
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records
  • Understanding customer operations, equipment requirements and future projects
  • Representing the business at trade shows, exhibitions and customer events

🔹 Stock & Inventory Management

  • Managing used equipment inventory and stock ageing
  • Working to maintain less than 20% of stock over 12 months old
  • Conducting regular stock checks
  • Managing equipment accessories and tracking records
  • Producing stock ageing reports and implementing sales strategies for ageing equipment

The successful candidate will have:

  • ✔️ Previous experience in account management and/or technical sales
  • ✔️ Strong commercial awareness and a proven ability to identify sales opportunities
  • ✔️ Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • ✔️ A strong track record of building and maintaining customer relationships
  • ✔️ The confidence to work independently and make commercial decisions
  • ✔️ Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • ✔️ A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • ✔️ High standards of customer service and attention to detail

Experience within construction equipment, plant machinery or heavy equipment is essential!

This role would suit an experienced Used Equipment Sales Manager, Plant Sales Manager, Technical Sales Manager, Equipment Sales Executive or Account Manager looking to take ownership of a national used equipment operation.
