Company Description

Slingsby Advanced Composites designs, tests, and manufactures advanced composite solutions for the aerospace and defense markets. The company delivers full turnkey solutions, from design for manufacture through to build-to-print, supporting a wide range of customer requirements. Using carefully selected materials and processes, Slingsby can produce composite components from small parts to very large structures. Team members work in a highly technical, quality-focused environment where innovation and precision are central to every project.

Role Description

The Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Kirkbymoorside, responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding Slingsby Advanced Composites’ presence in aerospace and defense markets. Day-to-day activities include:

  • Developing and executing sales plans
  • Managing customer relationships
  • Identifying new business opportunities
  • Preparing proposals and quotations that align with technical and commercial requirements

The role involves close collaboration with engineering, production, and quality teams to translate customer needs into viable composite solutions and to ensure accurate project scoping and delivery. The Sales Manager will:

  • Represent the company at customer meetings and industry events
  • Contribute to long-term account and market development strategies

Qualifications

  • Experience in technical or industrial sales, ideally within aerospace, defense, or advanced materials/composites.
  • Strong skills in customer relationship management, business development, and account management.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts, drawings, and specifications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in sales forecasting, pipeline management, and use of CRM tools.
  • Effective negotiation, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering and manufacturing.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of aerospace and defense industry standards, procurement processes, and supply chains is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and industry events as needed.
