An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead delivery of part of the Defence growth strategy. We are looking for an experienced Capture and Sales professional to join our Business Development and Future Programmes team.
The Sales Manager will be responsible for providing leadership to multi-functional capture teams accountable for delivering bids and proposals and profitable agreements with our key customers.
We are looking for someone with a passion for creating customer value propositions, capturing new business opportunities, leading campaigns and working collaboratively with diverse teams from across our global business.
What you will be doing:
- Lead complex sales campaigns with customers and partners in our key Defence markets to win orders that deliver our strategy and support our ambition to grow a sustainable business.
- Lead multi-functional capture teams to develop competitive solutions for our sales campaigns.
- Support the definition and execution of campaign strategies for both domestic and export opportunities.
- Influence enabling business functions and programme teams to deliver key inputs in support of campaigns.
- Lead teams through internal approvals and support the development of Rolls-Royce and customer business cases.
- Pursue commercial optimisation across proposals and negotiate strong commercial deals that balance risk and reward to achieve strong financial returns and deliver value to the business.
- Work closely with Rolls-Royce Defence Government Relations to develop, maintain and execute comprehensive stakeholder engagement plans and strategic communications in support of key opportunities and campaigns.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in our sales processes and campaign toolkits.
- Collaborate with colleagues to help grow and sustain the range of expertise and skills within the Sales and Business Development teams.

Position Qualifications:
- Experience of sales, campaign leadership, negotiation and/or managing bids and proposals within a Defence, Governmental business, general aerospace or marine gas turbine environment.
- Strong business and commercial acumen, with the ability to deal with ambiguity, synthesise complex information and situations, formulate and communicate a clear way forward, and guide others through the delivery of winning bids and proposals.
- Experience engaging with and positively influencing stakeholders at all levels of organisations to build lasting and productive relationships.
- Proven stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work successfully within a global business and with customers, partners, people and organisations from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to work collaboratively across multi-functional teams and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Hold, or be able to obtain, Security Check (SC) clearance.
Preferred Requirements:
- Broader experience across sales, capture, campaign leadership, customer or supplier negotiation and/or bid and proposal management.
- Experience leading multi-functional capture teams and developing competitive customer solutions.
- Experience developing customer value propositions and capturing new business opportunities.
- Experience supporting domestic and/or export sales campaigns.
- Experience developing business cases and navigating internal approval processes.
- Experience negotiating commercial agreements that balance risk, reward and financial return.
- Experience working with Government Relations and/or developing stakeholder engagement and strategic communication plans.
