Salary: £42,500 - £50,000 DoE + up to £15,000 commission

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Why Do We Want You

Mercia Group (part of Wilmington plc) is looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Sales Manager to lead our Account Executive and SDR teams.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the UK's leading provider of training, compliance and support services to the accountancy profession, taking ownership of a high-performing sales function responsible for delivering approximately £2 million in annual revenue.

Leading a team of 7 sales professionals, you'll play a pivotal role in driving performance, developing talent and helping Mercia achieve its ambition of remaining the number one trusted provider to accountants and tax professionals across the UK.

We're looking for a leader who combines strong commercial instincts with a passion for coaching and developing people. You'll be empowered to influence sales strategy, optimise performance and make a visible impact on business growth.

  • Leading, developing and inspiring a team of 5 Account Executives and 2 SDRs to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
  • Driving the performance of a sales function responsible for approximately £2 million in annual revenue.
  • Creating and implementing sales strategies, processes and initiatives that support business growth.
  • Monitoring pipeline health, conversion rates and sales activity to maximise opportunities and performance.
  • Delivering regular coaching, mentoring and performance development to help individuals reach their full potential.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve sales effectiveness, customer engagement and commercial outcomes.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to align sales activity with wider business objectives.
  • Producing and presenting sales performance insights, forecasts and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Championing a high-performance culture built on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Must Have

  • Proven experience leading and developing successful B2B sales teams.
  • A strong track record of delivering and exceeding revenue targets.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and develop high-performing sales professionals.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience analysing sales performance data and using insights to drive results.
  • Confidence using CRM systems, Excel and digital sales platforms such as Teams and Zoom.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a results-focused mindset.

To be successful in this role, it would be great if you have:

  • Experience selling within professional services, training, compliance, education or other regulated sectors.
  • Experience using Salesforce, Marketo or similar CRM and marketing platforms.
  • Strong negotiation and sales coaching skills.
  • Experience implementing sales process improvements that have driven measurable business growth.
