GKR Karate International (Go-Kan-Ryu Karate) is a traditional Japanese style karate club founded by Robert Sullivan in 1984, following years of training and teaching in Japan and the USA. The club offers non-contact karate training that supports both character development and physical fitness. GKR welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds, promoting self-defense, coordination, discipline, confidence, and stress relief. Classes are delivered in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment where members can grow at their own pace and be part of a supportive community. The organization focuses on making karate accessible and enjoyable while maintaining high standards of instruction and personal development.
Role Description
The Sales Membership Consultant is a full-time hybrid role based in Hayes, with some work-from-home flexibility. This role focuses on driving membership growth by engaging prospective members, explaining the benefits of GKR Karate, and guiding them through the enrollment process. The consultant will maintain accurate records in membership and CRM systems, prepare basic sales reports, and collaborate with instructors and local club leaders to support promotions and events. The role involves providing friendly, informed customer service, representing the GKR brand professionally, and contributing ideas to improve member acquisition and retention.
Qualifications
- Strong sales and customer service skills, including lead generation, consultative selling, and relationship building.
- Effective communication skills, with clear, confident spoken and written English and the ability to present information to individuals and small groups.
- Basic administrative and IT skills, including use of CRM or membership systems, email, spreadsheets, and data entry with attention to detail.
- Time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet targets, and work independently in a hybrid environment.
- Interest in health, fitness, or martial arts and willingness to learn about GKR Karate to accurately represent the club’s values and programs.
- Previous experience in sales, membership services, or a similar customer-facing role is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work some evenings or weekends to align with class schedules and member availability.
