We’re Looking for a Sales Manager
We’re looking for a commercially driven Sales Manager to join our branch team and play a key role in driving sales, margin and profitable growth.
Working closely with the Branch Director and wider sales team, you’ll take ownership of developing key customer accounts, identifying new business opportunities and making sure we’re maximising the commercial potential within our local market.
This is a great opportunity for someone who loves sales, understands what makes a customer relationship successful and enjoys turning opportunities into results.
What You’ll Be Doing
As our Sales Manager, you’ll:
- Work alongside the Branch Director to deliver the branch and regional sales strategy and achieve agreed sales, margin and profit targets
- Take ownership of key branch accounts, identifying opportunities to increase sales, margin and customer spend
- Build strong, long-term relationships with existing customers and make sure accounts are managed effectively
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the local market
- Work closely with our Field Sales team to secure new customers and grow existing accounts
- Proactively contact lapsed customers and prospective new accounts to generate opportunities
- Open new customer accounts and support their development into profitable, sustainable business
- Identify opportunities for add-on and cross-selling across our product range
- Use commercial insight to balance volume, margin and profitability when making sales decisions
- Ensure customer orders are processed accurately and efficiently
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the branch, Credit Control, Finance, suppliers and the wider regional team
- Champion SIG sales initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the branch
- Maintain the highest standards of health and safety and support our everyone safe everyday culture

What Are We Looking For?
We’re looking for someone with a strong commercial mindset who knows how to build relationships, spot opportunities and turn them into profitable sales.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Previous experience within sales, account management or business development
- Sales management experience would be advantageous
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
- A proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Confidence identifying and developing new business opportunities
- Good negotiation and influencing skills
- Strong communication skills and a confident telephone manner
- Good numerical skills and the ability to understand sales, margin and profitability
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- The ability to work collaboratively across different teams and functions
- Industry or building materials knowledge would be an advantage, although it isn’t essential
Most importantly, you’ll be proactive, commercially curious and motivated by delivering great results for both our customers and the business.
