Sales Performance & Development Manager

Connect Me Car Finance

Remote / Field Based – UK
£45,000–£55,000 basic + performance-related bonus + company car

About Connect Me Car Finance

Connect Me Car Finance is a growing motor finance business with an established team of Account Managers working remotely across the UK.

We specialise in helping customers secure vehicle finance, including customers who may have found obtaining finance difficult elsewhere. We generate a significant volume of opportunities for our Account Managers and pride ourselves on providing a personal service that helps customers through the whole journey, from finance approval through to finding the right vehicle. As the business continues to grow, we want to make sure the support around our sales team grows with it.

We are therefore looking for a Sales Performance & Development Manager to work closely with our Account Managers, helping them improve conversion, customer conversations, sales process, productivity and overall deal quality.

This is not a traditional sales management role built around reports, meetings and spreadsheets. We are looking for someone who enjoys working directly with salespeople, understanding what is happening within their conversations and pipelines, and helping them become better at what they do.

The role

Our Account Managers receive a healthy flow of customer opportunities. The purpose of this role is to help us make sure we consistently maximise those opportunities while maintaining the right customer experience. You will work closely with individual Account Managers to understand what they are doing well, identify where opportunities are being lost and provide practical coaching and support to improve performance.

That could mean listening to customer calls and providing feedback, reviewing an Account Manager's pipeline, identifying opportunities that are going cold, helping someone improve their qualification conversation or spending a day working alongside them face-to-face. You will also play an important role in supporting newer Account Managers as they develop their knowledge, confidence and sales ability.

This is intended to be a hands-on role. While performance data and reporting are important, we don't need someone simply telling us that someone's conversion has fallen. We want someone who will investigate why it has fallen and work with that person to improve it.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Coaching and developing Account Managers to improve individual and overall team performance.
  • Listening to and reviewing customer calls and providing practical, constructive feedback.
  • Helping Account Managers improve customer contact, qualification, follow-up and conversion.
  • Reviewing individual pipelines and identifying missed or underdeveloped opportunities.
  • Providing additional support and mentoring to newer members of the team.
  • Helping ensure our agreed sales processes are understood and consistently followed.
  • Improving the quality of customer conversations around finance approvals, budgets, vehicle requirements, fees and additional products.
  • Helping Account Managers better communicate the value Connect Me Car Finance provides throughout the customer's journey.
  • Monitoring individual and team performance trends and identifying where intervention or additional support is needed.
  • Working with senior management to identify wider training, process or performance issues.
  • Supporting the introduction of new products and processes across the sales team.
  • Recognising good performance and helping us share successful approaches across the wider team.
  • Being prepared to have constructive but direct conversations where standards or performance are consistently below expectations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Ultimately, your job is to help our Account Managers convert more of the opportunities we generate into good-quality, profitable business while delivering the right experience for our customers.

What we're looking for

We expect the right person will have a strong background in telephone-based sales, together with experience coaching, developing or managing salespeople. Motor finance experience would certainly be useful, particularly within specialist or sub-prime finance, but it isn't essential. We would equally consider an outstanding candidate from another strong sales environment such as financial services, mortgages, insurance, automotive or a similar sector. For us, the ability to understand a sales conversation and recognise why somebody is or isn't converting is more important than having worked in exactly the same industry.

You'll ideally be someone who:

  • Has a strong and demonstrable track record in telephone-based sales.
  • Has experience coaching, developing or managing salespeople.
  • Can listen to a sales call and quickly recognise opportunities for improvement.
  • Understands conversion, pipeline management and sales performance.
  • Enjoys helping people develop rather than simply managing their numbers.
  • Is equally comfortable supporting newer team members and challenging experienced salespeople.
  • Can build strong relationships with people working remotely.
  • Is approachable and personable but confident enough to have difficult conversations when required.
  • Is commercially minded without losing sight of the customer.
  • Is organised, self-motivated and comfortable managing their own working week.
  • Is happy to travel and spend time working alongside Account Managers when it will make a difference.

The type of person who will fit Connect Me

We're a growing business with a friendly and straightforward way of working, so personality and fit are important to us.

We're not looking for someone who wants to introduce unnecessary layers of corporate management or spend their week producing reports.

We want somebody practical and commercially minded who is prepared to get involved. You'll need to build genuine relationships with the Account Managers so they see you as somebody who can help them do more business, earn more money and develop their skills. At the same time, you'll have management responsibility and need to make sure agreed processes and standards are consistently followed. That balance is important.

Location & working pattern

This is primarily a remote and field-based position. Our Account Managers work remotely across the UK, so some travel will be required to spend time with individuals face-to-face. We see those visits as planned and purposeful, complementing the regular remote coaching and support that will form the majority of the role. You will otherwise work mainly from home, with occasional visits to our offices in Cradley Heath, West Midlands.

Someone based relatively centrally may naturally find the travelling easier, but we're much more interested in finding the right person than imposing a rigid location requirement.

A full UK driving licence is required.

Package

  • Basic salary: £45,000–£55,000 per year, depending on experience
  • Performance-related bonus: An additional performance-related bonus will reward improvements in overall team performance and development.
  • Company car: A company vehicle will be provided for both the remote/field-based nature of the position and required business travel.
  • Business travel: Business fuel/travel expenses provided.
  • Pension: Company pension scheme.

The exact package will depend upon the experience of the successful candidate, with an anticipated OTE in the region of £55,000–£65,000.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to join Connect Me at an interesting point in our development. We already generate good volumes of customer opportunities and have capable people within the business. What we now want to improve is the consistency with which we turn those opportunities into completed business.

You'll work closely with the owners and senior management and have genuine scope to influence how we coach, support and develop our sales team as the business grows. You won't be joining a large management structure or inheriting layers of bureaucracy. Instead, you'll have the opportunity to make a very visible difference to both individual people and the overall performance of the business.

The purpose of the role is actually quite simple: Help good Account Managers become better. Help developing people improve faster. Make sure we get the most from the opportunities we generate.

If you enjoy coaching salespeople, improving performance and seeing the direct results of the work you put into developing a team, we'd be very interested in hearing from you.
