Job Title - Sales Planning & Commercial Intelligence Manager
Location: Remote (UK Based)
Salary: Up to £45,000
Role Overview
The Sales Planning & Commercial Intelligence Manager owns the accuracy, governance and commercial intelligence behind the annual sales plan. They ensure the plan is credible, joined up and built on sound data and assumptions, and provide the intelligence needed to improve sales performance throughout the year. The role sits at the centre of commercial planning, connecting the Head of Sales, Regional Sales Managers and Category Management.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Reporting & Dashboards
- Build, maintain and improve commercial reports, dashboards and reporting models in Power BI, producing reliable scheduled outputs and practical performance views.
- Provide clear visibility of sales, marketing, client, category and channel performance against agreed KPIs, highlighting material trends, risks and opportunities.
- Ensure reports are easy to interpret and focused on the decisions Sales & Marketing need to make, with clear commercial context rather than reporting performance in isolation.
- Maintain consistent KPI definitions, reporting logic and documentation across Power BI, Excel and Google platform reporting.
- Investigate Google reporting and tracking discrepancies, explain their commercial impact and verify corrected outputs following configuration changes or technical fixes.
Sales Planning, Forecasting & Performance Tracking
- Own the planning process, data integrity, governance, maintenance and validation of the annual sales plan and in-year forecasts, ensuring the plan provides a credible and joined up view of expected commercial performance.
- Work closely with the Head of Sales and Regional Sales Managers to validate regional targets, customer opportunities and sales assumptions, challenging inputs that are inconsistent, unsupported by evidence or do not align with actual performance.
- Work with Category Management to ensure product priorities, launches, campaigns and category initiatives are fully reflected in the sales plan, with their expected sales impact understood and accounted for.
- Bring together Sales, Marketing, Category, Pricing and Finance inputs into one coherent plan; identify gaps, conflicts and unsupported assumptions and ensure these are resolved.
- Monitor forecast accuracy using an agreed method and highlight material risks, opportunities and variances early, with their likely impact and recommended next action.
- Separate underlying trends from promotional timing, stock constraints and one-off events; prepare scenarios for commercial review.
Performance Insight & Recommendations
- Proactively analyse sales, ecommerce, marketing, client, product and category data to explain what is happening, why it is happening, what is likely to happen next and how performance could improve.
- Identify risks and opportunities across regions, clients, products, categories and channels, including opportunities that may not be visible through standard reporting, and turn these into clear, evidence-based recommendations for commercial action.
- Size and evaluate agreed opportunities using relevant baselines, assumptions, costs and delivery timing; distinguish GMV, revenue, margin, attributed performance and incremental benefit without double counting.
- Support campaign, launch and trading reviews with clear findings, recommended actions and subsequent measurement. Commercial owners remain responsible for implementing their actions.
- Deliver focused ad-hoc analysis for urgent business questions, explaining uncertainty and limitations rather than presenting estimates as guaranteed outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Escalate source-data, integration or platform failures to the responsible internal owner; explain the impact and validate corrected reporting before wider use.
- Maintain usable handover notes for critical reports and planning models, including access requirements and recurring steps, so delivery does not depend on one individual.
Business Partnering & Client Support
- Work with Sales, Marketing, Category, Pricing, Finance, Operations and leadership to understand commercial priorities and ensure planning, reporting and analysis support effective decision making.
- Produce clear commercial and client review packs, explaining the main findings, risks, recommended actions and decisions required.

- Curious and proactive in exploring how AI can improve ways of working, with a willingness to adopt new tools that reduce repetitive manual tasks and create more time for higher value work.
