Head of Permanent Recruitment

City of London | £80,000–£90,000 + Bonus | Genuine Four-Day Week

Most recruitment leadership roles ask you to choose between leading a team and billing a desk.

We don’t think the best leaders have to.

THRYVE is a specialist Technology and Energy recruitment business operating across Germany and the wider DACH region. Over the last 12 years, we’ve built a strong client base, an ambitious team and a culture we’re incredibly proud of.

Now we’re looking for an exceptional recruitment leader to take our Permanent division into its next stage of growth.

The opportunity

You’ll inherit an established team of recruiters, but this isn’t a role for someone who simply wants to manage what’s already there.

We want a commercial leader and player-coach.

Someone who can develop recruiters, raise standards and build future leaders — but who can also get into the market themselves, open doors, create senior client relationships and generate revenue.

You’ll lead from the front.

That doesn’t mean spending every hour filling jobs or carrying the same desk as a 360 consultant. Your primary responsibility is building a high-performing, scalable Permanent division.

But we’re a specialist recruitment business, not a huge corporate. Our leaders need to be close to the market.

We want someone who can walk into a room with the team and coach exceptional business development — and then walk into a client meeting themselves and show them how it’s done.

What you’ll own

You’ll have genuine responsibility for the commercial performance and development of the Permanent division.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

That means:

  • Leading, coaching and developing the existing team.
  • Winning new clients and opening strategically important accounts.
  • Building senior relationships across Technology and/or Energy markets.
  • Personally generating revenue alongside your leadership responsibilities.
  • Creating opportunities that can be delivered across the wider team.
  • Developing consultants into consistent high performers.
  • Recruiting and onboarding future talent as the division grows.
  • Building future Team Leaders underneath you.
  • Raising standards around BD, account development, delivery and execution.
  • Creating a culture of commercial accountability and high performance.
  • Working closely with our MD and CEO on the continued growth of THRYVE.

Who we’re looking for

We’re interested in speaking to recruitment leaders who have personally been exceptional recruiters before becoming leaders.

You’ll likely have:

  • A strong track record as a high-performing biller.
  • Proven ability to win clients and open new accounts.
  • Strong Technology, Energy, Engineering or another specialist recruitment background.
  • Experience developing recruiters and improving performance.
  • The credibility to coach experienced consultants because you’ve done it yourself.
  • Strong commercial instincts and an understanding of how to build profitable recruitment teams.
  • High standards, high accountability and low ego.
  • The hunger to remain commercially active rather than moving completely away from recruitment.
  • The ambition to build something significantly bigger than what you inherit.

Germany / DACH experience would be advantageous, but it isn’t essential.

You may currently be a Recruitment Manager, Business Manager, Divisional Manager, Associate Director or experienced Team Lead ready for significantly more ownership.

We’re less interested in your current job title than your track record.

What success looks like

Over time, we want you to build a Permanent division that can operate independently, consistently produce exceptional recruiters and continue growing without being dependent on any one individual.

You’ll know you’re succeeding when:

  • The team is billing.
  • You’re opening doors.
  • New clients are being won.
  • People are getting better.
  • Future leaders are emerging.
  • And the division is growing.

What you’ll get

  • £80,000–£90,000 basic salary.
  • Meaningful performance-based bonus.
  • Genuine four-day working week.
  • An established team and platform to build from.
  • Significant autonomy over how the division develops.
  • The opportunity to make your own placements and directly benefit from the commercial value you create.
  • Direct access to the CEO and MD.
  • Clear long-term progression within THRYVE’s leadership team.
  • The opportunity to build a division that can become a major part of the business.

We’re not trying to build the biggest recruitment company.

We’re trying to build one of the best.

And we’re looking for someone who still loves recruitment itself — winning business, building relationships, making placements and developing brilliant recruiters — but wants the opportunity to do all of that at a much bigger level.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to talk.
