Job Title: Sales Representative

My client, a leading plant machinery sales & repair company located in Leeds, is seeking an experienced sales representative to join their team.

The company not only repairs but also handles the sales of high-end heavy machinery including shredders for metal recycling facilities, cranes, FLT’s, and many more. The focus of the business is to supply, repair, and maintain machinery to the highest possible standards, they also provide on-site welding and fabrication, including building steel structures, work platforms, and railings/guard rails.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should have a strong sales/business development background with a proven track record of developing strong and subsisting relationships with clients in the heavy machinery/plant field. Previous experience with sales in the metal recycling industry would be an advantage.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of experience within the machinery sales industry, preferably with metal recycling industry experience.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Previous experience building real sales pipelines, tracking customer behavior, and expanding existing business/accounts.
  • Strong negotiation abilities, able to negotiate high-value sales and large contracts.
  • The ideal candidate should be experienced in both the sales of physical products (machinery) and the sale of service products (maintenance and repair contracts).
  • Strong knowledge of technology, including LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Google Ads, and Microsoft Packages.
  • Personable – you must be able to speak the language of personnel at the ground level and also be professional when meeting with CEO’s and Directors.

Duties & Role

  • Complete sales-related activities, such as prospecting, market research, connection research, and cold outreach via phone, email, and in-person visits.
  • Complete sales activities via LinkedIn and potentially Google Ads or other advertising methods.
  • Attend scheduled business meetings with potential clients.
  • Build and monitor sales pipelines, projecting future sales revenue and contract renewals.
  • Keep track of clients contacted, converted clients, and sales completed.
  • Work with the client end to end from the point of sale to delivery of machinery/servicing and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provide account oversight and account development for existing clients, for example, expanding to other sites across the UK.
  • Be in or around the West Yorkshire area, with a driving license and access to your own vehicle.
  • Be able to consistently meet a minimum of 1-2 sales per quarter.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with clients across the Yorkshire region, there is the possibility to expand into other regions and nationwide as the role develops.
