Sales Specialist – Life Sciences
Central & Northern UK | Home-Based | Field Sales
Mackinnon Bruce are partnered with a global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality products and solutions used across the Life Sciences research market. With an established presence across academic, biotechnology and pharmaceutical laboratories, the organisation provides a broad portfolio of laboratory products supporting cell culture, drug discovery, bioprocessing and wider life science research applications.
As part of continued growth across the UK, we are looking to speak with an experienced Sales Specialist to manage and develop business across Central and Northern UK, with a particular focus on the academic research market.
Working closely with distribution partners, the successful candidate will take ownership of the territory, developing existing accounts while identifying new opportunities to drive sustainable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop sales across Central and Northern UK, with a strong focus on academic and life science research customers.
- Develop and execute territory and account plans to achieve agreed revenue and growth targets.
- Build strong relationships with researchers, laboratory professionals, procurement teams and other key stakeholders within customer accounts.
- Identify new business opportunities while developing and expanding existing customer relationships.
- Work closely with distribution partners to develop and execute joint sales and marketing plans.
- Conduct regular distributor reviews and build strong relationships to maximise performance across the territory.
- Develop a detailed understanding of customer workflows, applications and requirements to identify suitable solutions.
- Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities and provide accurate forecasting using CRM and data analytics tools.
- Regularly review territory performance, market activity and account development opportunities.
- Collaborate with Applications, Customer Experience, Supply Chain and wider internal teams to provide effective customer support.
- Maintain strong technical and commercial knowledge across a broad Life Sciences product portfolio.
- Gather market, customer and competitor intelligence to support wider commercial and marketing strategies.
- Identify opportunities to expand business into additional customers, applications and market segments.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for customers and distribution partners throughout the territory.

Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience within Life Sciences sales, account management or a related commercial position.
- Experience selling products, equipment, consumables or solutions into life science research laboratories would be highly advantageous.
- BSc/BA or equivalent degree/experience, ideally within a scientific or related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience developing customer relationships and identifying new commercial opportunities.
- Experience working alongside distribution partners would be advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to understand customer needs and translate these into sales opportunities.
- Confident communication, presentation, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritise key accounts across a sizeable geographical territory.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Comfortable working independently within a home-based and matrixed environment.
- Experience using CRM platforms, ideally Salesforce, alongside Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Full professional fluency in English.
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the territory.
