Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Sales Supervisor to join our team. Based in our Ethiebeaton office, you will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day management of a team while driving performance and ensuring excellent service delivery for both internal and external customers.

As a Sales Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team, managing operational processes, and delivering on performance improvement initiatives. You will work closely with other departments, including Commercial, Technical, and Distribution, to ensure seamless operations, enhanced customer satisfaction, and continuous business improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Line Management and Leadership

  • Manage employee attendance, plan holidays, and undertake cover arrangements within the team
  • Recruit and manage vacancies, induction, organise learning and review competency and performance
  • Carry out Performance and Development Reviews with all team employees setting company SMART targets
  • Develop personal skills of the team and outline succession plans where required
  • Manage under performance and misconduct following company policy

Operational Management

  • Ensure order management and service levels are maintained to a high standard, encouraging team to work to and where possible exceed these standards to motivate customer satisfaction
  • Communicate effectively with all areas of the operation on a timely, accurate and professional standard, both internally and externally
  • Ensure that customer quotations are issued accurately and timeously and that the team undertake proactive follow -up of their quotations, help collate a weekly won & lost summary ensuring relevant customer feedback concerning price, service and quality are recorded
  • Effective use of transport and liaison with external hauliers/owner drivers to deliver dry, coated and concrete to all customers internal and external
  • Build haulier relationships to maintain or increase availability at current rates
  • Build customer relationships and provide a link for customers between other internal functions, Commercial, Technical Credit Control
  • Liaise with Distribution Manager on all compliance issues, excessive costs for vehicles and any driver or vehicle issues
  • Liaise with local management team to ensure customer deliveries can be met cost effectively, ensuring harmonious working between departments

Performance Improvement

  • Support the Commercial & Distribution Managers to establish and monitor KPIs and review those KPI’s with the Team
  • Liaise with customers to understand how our performance is perceived by our customer base and propose and implement improvements
  • Daily Focus on reduction of hired vehicles/top ups and truck availability in conjunction with daily analysis of delivery performance and customer satisfaction
  • Assess current performance of truck utilisation and analyse where efficiency savings and utilisation improvements can be achieved
  • Provide proactive and timeous communication with customers regarding any factors affecting deliveries and manage their expectations accordingly to achieve a positive outcome
  • Liaise with the Transport and Operations Managers to ensure joint approach to planned maintenance and compliance matters

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

You will be working in a fast paced and challenging environment, so the ability to make the correct decision in a timely fashion is vital. You will have the ability to remain positive and think laterally when working in a high-pressure environment ensuring company targets are being met.

  • You will be a self-starter who is commercially focused and responds appropriately on your own to improve outcomes and process’s and assumes responsibility for your own performance.
  • You will have a good understanding of Customer and Service needs, be an excellent communicator and team player, have good computer skills (Word and Excel), exceptional customer service skills with a strong work ethic.
  • You will also have the ability to manage completing deadlines by estimating time frames and monitoring own progress; the ability to anticipate problems and consider a solution and the ability to negotiate and work collaboratively with colleagues and clients on both a formal and informal level.
  • Line Management experience in a relevant Customer Service role is essential and experience in the supply of quarry, asphalt and ready-mix products is beneficial but not essential.
  • You will have the ability to drive profit generation, optimise efficiency and quality in the role by analysing and understanding the key drivers for business performance and identifying improvements.
  • You should be ambitious and be looking for an opportunity to develop your personal skill set and be committed to learning and developing.
