Job Title: Sales Support Specialist
Salary: Starting from £41,593 depending on experience
Location: Peterborough, UK

About IPSD: Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar’s company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.
The Opportunity: We have an exciting opportunity for an individual seeking to build their career in a fast-paced Sales environment, supporting senior Account Managers and Perkins Distributors to drive Perkins Engine sales. Reporting to the Perkins Distribution Engine Sales Manager for EAME within the Sales, Marketing, Service & Parts group, you will play a key role in supporting sales activities across the Europe, Africa and Middle East region.
In this role, you will contribute to the achievement of annual engine sales targets and business metrics through a Business-to-Business (B2B) approach with key distributors and customers. You will receive coaching and mentoring from an experienced team of Account Managers to support your development and success.
The successful candidate will excel at building strong customer relationships and be passionate about delivering excellent customer service. Through effective collaboration with internal stakeholders, you will help resolve customer issues, drive customer satisfaction, and contribute to achieving business objectives while making a meaningful impact on the business.

What You Will Do:
- Answering inquiries and resolving problems regarding products and services via call or email.
- Conducting periodic and regular surveys of customers to determine satisfaction and cross-selling opportunities.
- Performing customer administration support and resolving customer related issues.
- Support generation and implementation of customer account plans for assigned key customer accounts.
- Responsible for providing timely pricing and quote assistance to dealers and sales team and manage yearly price actions.
- Utilise Customer Relationship Management tools to support planning, progress and delivery of the growth objectives.
- Provide transactional, systems and operational support across the industrial engine sales team.
- Work in collaboration with cross functional teams to ensure customer satisfaction and timely issue resolution.
- Develop a deep understanding of the industrial engine product range, sectors and markets.
What You Will Have:
- Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
- Level Working Knowledge:
- Using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems to track customer interactions, opportunities, and growth objectives.
- Responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues via phone and email.
- Building strong customer relationships and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the organization's industry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters; ability to apply industry knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
- Level Basic Understanding:
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Level Working Knowledge:
- Analyzing customer feedback, identifying trends, and supporting business growth opportunities.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Level Basic Understanding:
- Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
- Level Basic Understanding:
- Coordinating issue resolution and supporting customer account plans.
- Managing expectations and providing timely updates to stakeholders.
- Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.
