Sales Team Leader

Are you an experienced sales professional with a passion for leadership, coaching, and achieving outstanding results? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, KPI-driven environment where your ability to motivate and develop people can make a real impact?

BMC Recruitment Group are currently recruiting for a Sales Team Leader for their client based in Newton Aycliffe. You’ll join their business development and account management team in their new modern office which has fantastic facilities and free car parking.

You are a confident and ambitious Team Leader who can lead the Business Development and Account Management team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven sales leader who enjoys driving performance, developing talent, and building strong customer relationships while remaining hands-on with their own customer portfolio.

As Sales Team Leader, you will take ownership of the performance, development, and day-to-day management of one of the Sales Units. You will be responsible for ensuring team targets are achieved, KPIs are consistently met, and customer relationships are maintained to the highest standards. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will balance team management with account management responsibilities, leading by example and creating a culture of accountability, motivation, and success.

What’s on Offer:

  • Salary £40,000 to £45,000 Depending on Experience. OTE £50,000 to £55,000
  • 25 Days holiday plus Bank Holidays.
  • Monday to Thursday 7.30-4.30pm Fri 8.00am-2.30pm

Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Lead, coach, motivate, and develop a team of Business Development and Account Management professionals.
  • Set clear performance expectations and manage team KPIs and sales targets.
  • Conduct daily one-to-one morning meetings with team members to review priorities, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Monitor individual and team performance, providing regular feedback and support.
  • Address underperformance through coaching, development plans, and formal performance management where required.
  • Ensure team members remain focused, productive, and engaged throughout the working day.
  • Manage and grow an allocated customer base.
  • Process customer quotations and orders efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain regular customer contact and achieve agreed call activity targets.
  • Drive sales growth and maximise opportunities within existing customer accounts.
  • Utilise CRM systems and sales reporting tools to manage customer activity and performance.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

  • Minimum 5 years' sales experience within a business development, account management, or sales environment.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience managing or leading sales teams.
  • A proven track record of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience operating within a KPI-driven, target-focused, and commission-based environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and people development skills.
  • Excellent communication and motivational abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience using CRM systems and sales performance reporting tools.
  • A positive, hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example.
