Sales Team Manager

£60,000 – £80,000 + Uncapped Commission

Preston, Lancashire | Full-time | Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

★ OPENING JANUARY 2027 — INTERVIEWS FROM LATE SEPTEMBER 2026 ★

This is not a management role where you inherit a team, a playbook, and a set of habits. This is a build.

NGP is opening a brand-new office in Preston and we need Sales Team Managers who can recruit, develop, and lead high-performing sales teams from the ground up. You’ll be one of the first leaders through the door — responsible for building a team of Lead Generators and Energy Consultants, coaching them through their first 90 days, and driving the commercial performance of your pod.

If you’ve ever wanted to shape a sales floor rather than join one, this is the role.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Building and leading a pod of 12–15 Lead Generators and Energy Consultants from Day 1
  • Coaching, developing, and performance-managing your team through daily call reviews, 1:1s, and floor support
  • Driving pipeline generation, conversion, and revenue against team and individual targets
  • Owning your team’s first-90-day experience — you are directly responsible for whether new starters succeed or fail
  • Collaborating with the Site Director and other TMs to build the culture and rhythm of the Preston office
  • Reporting on KPIs (call time, pipeline, conversion, cash) and implementing improvement plans where needed
  • Recruiting your own team members — involved in assessment days and hiring decisions

What Makes It Rewarding

  • You’re building from scratch. No inherited problems, no legacy culture — the team you build is the team you lead
  • Management override commission means your team’s success directly drives your income
  • Published career pathway from Team Manager to Site Director — the Preston Site Director role will be filled internally from the founding team
  • You’ll be supported by NGP’s full infrastructure: CRM, trading desk, procurement team, marketing, and dedicated HR — you focus on coaching and selling

What’s In It for You

  • Management commission on top of base salary — Average earnings £600,000
  • 23 days holiday + additional December leave (fully paid December off) + bank holidays
  • Access to Simply health (money towards dental care, eyesight checks, physio, etc.)
  • EV salary sacrifice scheme
  • Access to gyms and on-site fitness facilities
  • £2,000 Refer a Friend bonus
  • Exciting incentives for excellent performers (so far this year, we’ve sent our people for VIP experiences to: Monaco Grand Prix, Tomorrowland, Champions League matches, Royal Ascot, Wimbledon to name a few…)

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why Preston?

  • You’ll be one of the founding leaders at our brand-new Preston office — premium city-centre workspace with air conditioning throughout, meeting rooms, a dedicated training room, and modern technology
  • This is a ground-floor leadership opportunity. The culture, the standards, the rhythm of this office will be set by you
  • Preston is one of the fastest-growing cities in the North West, with excellent transport links (M6, M55, M61), a mainline railway station, and a vibrant city centre with cafés, restaurants, and bars on your doorstep
  • No more commuting to Bolton, Blackpool, or Kirkham — if you’re in Lancashire, this is the energy sales role on your doorstep
  • Ground-floor opportunity: shape the culture, set the standards, and build something from Day 1 — the people who start here will be the leaders of tomorrow
  • Same pay, same benefits, same technology, same support as our Gateshead HQ — but in your backyard
  • 40+ parking spaces, or a short walk from Preston station

This is for you, if:

  • You have 2+ years of experience managing or coaching a B2B sales team, ideally in energy, utilities, or telecoms
  • You have a demonstrable track record of developing salespeople — not just managing numbers, but building capability
  • You understand outbound sales: call structure, objection handling, pipeline management, and target delivery
  • You lead from the front — you’re on the floor, in the calls, and available to your team
  • You are motivated by building something new, not maintaining something old

This is a leadership role for people who have proven they can coach, develop, and inspire a sales team. We are not looking for individual contributors who want to “try management.”

This is not for you if:

  • You’ve never managed or formally coached a team before
  • You prefer to be an individual contributor
  • You’re not comfortable with accountability for other people’s performance
  • You don’t enjoy the operational detail of daily sales management (call listening, pipeline reviews, 1:1 coaching)
  • You want to work remotely — this is office-based in Preston, Monday to Thursday (WFH Fridays)
