Ready to lead the next phase of growth at SR Apprenticeships?

SR Apprenticeships is a national apprenticeship training provider working with over 130 employers across the UK.

We partner with forward-thinking, people-centred organisations to develop their people, build future talent pipelines and address workforce skills needs through high-quality apprenticeships and professional development programmes.

Our expertise spans Professional Services and Supply Chain & Logistics, including HR and Learning & Development, Sales, Customer Service, Business Administration, Retail, Supply Chain, International Freight Forwarding, Health & Safety, Project Management and Business Improvement.

Our expertise is underpinned by our Ofsted Grade 2 ‘Good’ rating, with quality, employer partnership and the learner experience at the heart of how we operate.

We are now looking for an experienced and commercially driven Sales Director to join our Senior Management Team and lead the next phase of SR's employer growth strategy.

The Opportunity

This is not a role where you will simply manage a sales team and report the numbers.

We are looking for a Sales Director who can shape and deliver our commercial strategy, develop a high-performing sales function and personally open doors with major employers.

You will take ownership of SR's sales and business development strategy, building a strong and sustainable pipeline across apprenticeship and wider commercial learning opportunities.

You will lead, coach and develop our sales team while remaining personally involved in strategic business development – building senior-level employer relationships, leading major opportunities and converting them into long-term partnerships.

Working directly with the Managing Director and wider Senior Management Team, you will also have the opportunity to influence SR's wider growth strategy, future markets and programme development.

What You'll Be Responsible For

You will:

  • Develop and deliver SR's sales and employer engagement strategy.
  • Lead the acquisition of new levy and non-levy employer relationships.
  • Personally develop and convert significant strategic employer opportunities.
  • Build relationships with senior HR, People, L&D, Talent and operational decision-makers.
  • Lead major pitches, proposals, tenders and commercial negotiations.
  • Lead, coach and develop the sales team, creating a high-performance and accountable culture.
  • Own the sales pipeline, CRM discipline and forecasting process.
  • Develop clear sales plans covering learner starts, revenue, employer acquisition and strategic account growth.
  • Identify new sectors, markets and commercial opportunities.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and referral channels.
  • Work with Account Management to identify opportunities to expand existing employer relationships across additional programmes, locations and workforce groups.
  • Work closely with Operations, Quality, Curriculum and Finance to ensure growth is commercially viable and operationally deliverable.
  • Provide commercial insight and challenge as a member of SR's Senior Management Team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an established senior sales professional with the credibility and commercial capability to operate at Director level.

You will bring:

  • Significant senior B2B sales and business development experience.
  • A strong track record of delivering sustainable commercial growth.
  • Experience leading, managing and developing a successful sales team.
  • Evidence of personally securing significant corporate or employer accounts.
  • Experience developing and implementing successful sales strategies.
  • Strong pipeline management and forecasting capability.
  • Experience managing complex B2B sales cycles.
  • Confidence presenting, influencing and negotiating at senior and executive level.
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness.
  • A data-led approach to sales and performance management.
  • The ability to think strategically while remaining hands-on in business development.

Apprenticeship Sector Experience

Experience within apprenticeships, further education, training or workforce development would be highly advantageous, particularly if you have:

  • A strong understanding of apprenticeship funding and the apprenticeship levy.
  • Experience securing significant levy-paying employers.
  • Existing relationships within major UK employers.
  • Experience developing national or multi-site employer partnerships.
  • Experience with tenders and procurement processes.
  • Experience across funded and commercial learning.

However, we are equally interested in experienced B2B sales leaders from complementary sectors who can demonstrate the ability to understand our market quickly, build senior employer relationships and deliver sustainable growth.

The Person

Commercially ambitious but grounded in quality, you will understand that successful apprenticeship sales is about much more than generating starts.

You will be strategic enough to develop the plan, commercially credible enough to open doors, hands-on enough to help convert major opportunities and people-focused enough to develop a successful team.

You will be comfortable with accountability and targets, use data to inform decisions and bring structure and discipline to pipeline management and forecasting.

As Sales Director, you won't simply inherit a target. You will have the opportunity to shape the strategy, develop the sales function, influence future market opportunities and play an active role in the wider leadership of the business.
