Salesforce Administrator
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, hybrid (3 days per week on site)
Type: Permanent, full time
Salary: ยฃ40,000-ยฃ50,000 DOE
About the Role
This is a hands-on administration role inside a small Salesforce team that owns the maintenance, support and ongoing improvement of a heavily customised, multi-cloud Salesforce estate. The work is a mix of keeping a busy production platform stable and steadily improving how the business uses it.
You will sit within the IT department and work daily with internal stakeholders across sales, service and marketing, alongside third party suppliers and integration partners. A significant part of the current roadmap is reducing technical debt: replacing legacy code based customisations with standard Salesforce functionality or clean declarative solutions, so the platform is easier to support and cheaper to change.
The role suits an administrator who is comfortable being the person users come to, enjoys teaching as much as configuring, and wants exposure across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Marketing Cloud Engagement rather than a single specialism.
The Salesforce Environment
- A heavily customised, multi-cloud production org with a live user base across the business
- Sales Cloud and Service Cloud as the core platforms, with Marketing Cloud Engagement in use for journeys, segmentation and campaign delivery
- Integrations with third party systems, including ERP and marketing automation
- AppExchange solutions in use, including Conga
- An active programme migrating legacy Apex, Aura and Lightning Web Component customisations to out of the box functionality or best practice declarative configuration
Key Responsibilities
Platform Administration and Configuration
- Manage and maintain the Salesforce org day to day, protecting system stability, performance and data integrity
- Build and update custom objects, fields, page layouts, validation rules, workflows and flows
- Manage complex configuration, including integrations with third party systems and existing customisations
- Apply Salesforce best practice and governance to changes, including release management, sandbox use and change control
- Manage user setup, profiles, permission sets, roles and sharing rules
- Own data quality: deduplication, imports and exports, migrations and routine housekeeping
- Keep on top of Salesforce seasonal releases, assess the impact on the org and plan any action needed

Iโm in my final year doing Economics and I donโt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer โ it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donโt need a masters. Letโs look at the ones youโd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet โ that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
