Salesforce Consultant
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing Salesforce consultancy, who are looking for a technically minded Salesforce Consultant to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in Salesforce administration and configuration, combined with hands-on Apex development skills, to take ownership of projects from initial requirements through to deployment.
You'll work closely with customers to understand their business needs, design and deliver solutions, and ensure that everything meets the highest standards of quality. You'll also play an important role in reviewing the work of other consultants and developers, helping to improve delivery standards and shape the future of the product.
The Role
As a Salesforce Consultant, you will take responsibility for delivering end-to-end Salesforce solutions, using a combination of declarative configuration and custom development.
You'll need to know when to use standard Salesforce functionality and when custom code is required, confidently explaining your approach to customers. Alongside your own delivery work, you'll review and test solutions built by others, support customers through go-live and provide ongoing advice and guidance.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys combining functional consulting with hands-on technical development and has a genuine passion for delivering high-quality Salesforce solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and deliver end-to-end Salesforce solutions, from requirements gathering through to deployment.
- Configure Salesforce objects, fields, page layouts, record types, validation rules, Flows, approval processes, permission sets, reports and dashboards.
- Develop and maintain Apex triggers, classes and test classes.
- Assess business requirements and determine whether declarative configuration or custom development is the most appropriate solution.
- Explain technical decisions and solution trade-offs clearly to customers.
- Debug and troubleshoot existing Apex code and Salesforce configurations.
- Provide clear technical specifications and briefs to developers for more complex custom development.
- QA and peer-review solutions built by other consultants and developers, ensuring they meet requirements and follow Salesforce best practices.
- Write test scenarios, conduct regression testing and identify potential issues before solutions reach customers.
- Scope and estimate customer enhancement requests and change cases, identifying risks and dependencies.
- Support customers throughout testing, UAT, training and go-live.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing ongoing technical guidance and support.
- Share customer feedback and insights with the Product team to help influence the product roadmap.

Skills and Experience Required
- Demonstrable experience in a Salesforce Functional Consultant, Business Analyst or Administrator role, ideally within a customer-facing consultancy.
- Strong hands-on Salesforce configuration skills, particularly building and debugging complex Flows.
- Practical Apex development experience is essential, including writing and maintaining triggers, classes and test classes to deployment standard.
- Good understanding of when to use declarative Salesforce functionality and when custom development is required.
- Strong understanding of the Salesforce data model, security, sharing and governor limits.
- Experience testing Salesforce solutions, including writing test scenarios, regression testing and reviewing Flows and code.
- A quality-first mindset, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to balance thoroughness with delivery speed.
- Experience reviewing other people's work and providing constructive technical feedback.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn ambiguous requirements into structured solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Salesforce Administrator certification is expected.

Desirable Experience
- Salesforce Platform App Builder, Platform Developer I or Salesforce Consultant certifications.
- Experience working with recruitment or staffing businesses.
- Previous experience delivering Salesforce projects for external customers.
- Experience working across both functional consulting and technical development.
