About The Role

We are seeking a talented Salesforce Developer to join our Product Engineering Team at Sage, based in Winnersh (Reading area), UK. This role is hybrid, requiring three days onsite per week, and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to Sage's flagship SaaS product, Sage People. Sage People is a comprehensive HR and people management platform built on the Salesforce platform, serving a global customer base. As a Salesforce Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Salesforce solutions that enhance the platform’s capabilities and support the company's strategic goals. This position is focused on hands-on engineering, requiring deep technical expertise in Salesforce development, with a clear emphasis on coding rather than administrative or consulting tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in object-oriented programming languages such as Java or C#, demonstrating a strong foundation in software development principles. Experience developing on the Salesforce Lightning platform, including Apex, SOQL, and Lightning Web Components, is essential. Candidates should have a track record of delivering scalable, robust solutions within complex business environments. A Salesforce Developer Certification is highly desirable but not mandatory. Familiarity with modern development tools such as Git, Jira, IntelliJ IDEA, and CI/CD pipelines will be advantageous. The candidate should also demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to manage multiple technical requirements, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

As a Salesforce Developer at Sage, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Salesforce solutions tailored to our global SaaS product
  • Working hands-on with Apex, SOQL, JavaScript, and Lightning Web Components to implement features that support customer and internal needs
  • Translating complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Contributing to technical design discussions and participating in architecture planning
  • Collaborating closely with other Salesforce developers, frontend engineers, testers, product managers, and architects to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features
  • Engaging in Agile practices, including Scrum and SAFe ceremonies, quarterly planning, and product releases
  • Contributing to the evolving product roadmap, particularly focusing on AI-driven capabilities, ensuring the platform remains innovative and competitive
